Really interesting but..
Loved this story and the insight into Elvis Presley’s life. I’ve never read anything about him before so this was a good starting off point to know a little bit more about the man. I just really didn’t like how sympathetic the author was to his control issues and the way he treated his wife/girlfriends. I get that he was a rockstar but it doesn’t excuse the way he controlled girls and the fact that he dated 14 year olds when he was in his mid 20’s. I don’t feel good listening to people justify that choice. Other than that, I liked it.

Rose coloured rendition
To say this is biased is an understatement. It’s great to experience the enthusiasm of a true fan but it is at the cost of objectivity with Presley’s every action, decision and characteristic presented as perfection or carefully excused where there is a negative connotation. It’s an interesting overview of his life and career (with what seemed to me to be an odd emphasis on his clothes…) but some perspective might have made this more credible as a biographical account.
