Publisher's Summary

Once in a generation a woman comes along who changes everything. Tina Fey is not that woman, but she met that woman once and acted weird around her.

Before 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and 'Sarah Palin', Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Disappointed fan

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was just OK. The narration was very scripted - I figure if you are talking about your own life, you don't need to sound like you are sitting there reading it out aloud. There was no naturalness to it. A bit of swearing too, and it just didn't sound right coming from Tina Fey, because her persona is not like that, and the swearing sounded very forced.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Tell it like a story, not tell it like you are reading verbatim from a script.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I like Tina Fey, and love her work, so it was interesting for me, but I didn't absolutely love it that's for sure.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what all the fuss is about this book

I love Tina fey on screen and I had heard through social media, radio how it was a great book but it just didn't interest me. I don't know if Tina narrating it in a script like voice was off putting but it just didn't feel like they were her experiences - I get they were but her voice didn't convey them with feeling and emotion.
Gave up third of the way and couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Light hearted, although a little dated in parts

What did you like best about Bossypants? What did you like least?

I enjoyed hearing Tina Fey. It's more like a conversation than a book reading, so you get a glimpse into her personality.

funny gal, worth a listen but..

funny chick, wouldn't really call it a real autobiography. doesn't go too deep into her bground, mostly lifes theories, enough of her though to make you think her husband must laugh alot. enjoyed it.

wonderful for tina fey fans

tina feys book is 20% autobiographical. 40% how to be a working mother in your 40's and 40% jokes tacked onto the ends of sentences so nothing is too serious. It's 5 hours of tina fey hilarity and my only critiscm is that I wanted it to go longer and wishing for tina to get serious once in a while. There are serious points, but they're covered by punchlines she spits out a bit too quick and quiet. i also came away glad I was born a man. dont know if that's a good thing

So funny!

Loved this audio book. Tina Fey is one of the funniest people around! The book was warm, beautifully narrated and with some audio bonuses that couldn't have made it to the hard copy version.

Hilarious read

Bossypants isn’t your typical biography - it’s more like a compilation of different snippets of Tina Fey’s life. Some reviews on Goodreads say that the book came across as disjointed and I totally get what they mean.
I found that it was an enjoyable listen on my morning and afternoon commutes and enjoyed listening to different episodes of her life, instead of a full narrative from birth to current times.
Fey is a hilarious narrator and I was genuinely laughing out loud throughout the book.
Highly recommended!
