Story
The Empire is splitting at the seams. The Great Houses refuse to obey the Throne World and have begun to conduct increasingly independent politics. Sensing the weakness of the central government, even the most loyal star systems of the Imperial Core are refusing to take orders from above. Is this just a string of coincidences, or a coordinated campaign? Can a disjointed humanity rally around a strong leader to deflect an alien invasion? Who of the many figures in intergalactic politics can rise to this challenge?

And when they do, once again game nodes are set ablaze, and platoons of Dark Faction soldiers threaten our customary world with destruction. The enemy has grown stronger and more numerous. To make matters worse, they also got their hands on even deadlier weaponry. They have learned painful lessons from previous encounters and adjusted their tactics accordingly.

Story
At long last, an extraterrestrial civilization reached out and made the First Contact. However, no one on Earth took their communique for the genuine article. In a similar vein, very few people appreciated just how little time our new suzerains had promised to keep our planet safe. Regardless, the end of their message showed humankind how to access a mysterious game. The objective of this game is unclear. No one can say where its servers are located, and its inner workings are beyond comprehension.

Story
There was no warning. A mist descended from the sky, disabling all technology and causing a weird message to appear at the corner of everyone's eye. The situation grew even worse as animals and people started to warp, transforming into terrible monsters that prey on the living. Within months, human civilization had crumbled. Unable to fight the seemingly-indestructible beasts, the survivors are reduced to cowering in reinforced shelters. Helpless. All seemed lost until a few brave souls discovered the secret of their new reality: the Tec and how to use it to level up.
Publisher's Summary
Playing by the book? That's not how we do it!
In his attempt to delay his appearance in Emperor's court, Crown Prince Georg triggers an alien invasion of his own star system. The whole of the Empire watches the live broadcast with bated breath as his fleet battles the awesome invaders. The Iseyeks - gigantic sentient praying mantises - are suitably impressed too, so they promptly remind the Crown Prince of his allied duties. The Sector Eight Fleet hurries to the Swarm's aid...but sadly disregards the insects' hive mentality.

hate or like
I enjoy this book but I hate it so much more. There is no way anybody could believe they are in a game. Ruslan is supposedly the greatest strategic genius in and out of the empire and hes getting owned by a drugged up idiot and the idiots slave. whats worse he doesnt even fight it. He could easily win through a variety of ways. Now im on the third book but hes still just getting slapped around like a little b*tch. How am i supposed to relate to a character that gets outsmarted by the equivalent of a homeless drug addict that also mind and body rapes him. Yet here I am listening to the third book....

One of the best series I've picked up all Year!
Would you listen to Beyond Death again? Why?
yes, oh god yes. this book is a page turner. normally I just spend my monthly credits, but this series made me drop cash on this I needed to know what happen then and there.
What other book might you compare Beyond Death to and why?
N/A this is a rare Gem.
Have you listened to any of Neil Hellegers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
hey did a awesome job. I felt I was standing next to Crown Prince on the bridge of his ship, and not just driving my car.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Everything with the body guards. I love paporie de cotcha
Any additional comments?

Wonderful
I enjoyed this book immensely, I can say that I'll be finishing this series post haste. My one complaint is the princes favorite Astra. Her character is so thin it's 1-d and super annoying. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book and the series as a whole.

Great book. Only one logical flaw
Overall, the book was pretty much perfect for me. I'm a big fan. The only logical flaw I can see is the question of why he was still married to Marta past the first book. It doesn't make much sense that he would stay married to her considering her personality/looks and useless income (aka absolutely no income). He just kept digging himself deeper into the hole by not getting it done as soon as possible. It seems like a forced plot-line in my opinion considering the MC is supposed to be intelligent enough to deal with problems like that as soon as possible but the author prevented him from doing so. I hate it when an author forces something to try to cause drama where there really shouldn't be any to begin with.

Book 1 and 2 in 6 days
I binged both book 1 and 2. These are absolutely engaging books. I enjoyed the world, the main character, and his entourage. The narrator is great, very consistent, and my thoughts are currently being narrated by him. Atamanov is a very talented author and now among my favorites for a guaranteed good time. I will be spending my credits whenever he releases a new book.
