Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Story
Every year, the empire administers the rite of passage into adulthood. That rite serves to identify those blessed by Aether to become magi. The new magi are shipped to the academy to learn the arts of magic. The academy is a dangerous place; the tournaments held twice each year can cripple or kill the students, and the clans of the empire will go to great lengths to recruit the students they want. Gregory had one dream: to become a magi like the legends of old. Though he was ridiculed by the residents of the village and his unsupportive father, he never wavered from his dream.

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Publisher's Summary
A laugh-out-loud, slice-of-life martial-arts fantasy about . . . farming????
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body.
As Jin, I’m a man of the earth. A wielder of shovels and lord of rice and wheat. And sure, I also had to die and get pulled into another universe to end up here. But guess what? I’m starting to think it was worth it.
I’ve somehow managed to get away from it all. Finally free of the bloodshed of cultivator fights, I figure I’ll live in the slow lane from here on out, my only real concern the rain—or lack thereof.
Unfortunately, I’ve suddenly got a shady organization looking for me, my cat has gone off to fight in a martial arts tournament, and my chicken has uncovered an ancient crystal containing portents of doom. You know, the usual stuff.
I’m not worried though. Sometimes trouble finds you. And while I may not be a master cultivator . . . trouble should know better than to mess with a farmer.
The third volume of the blockbuster progression-fantasy series—with more than 20 million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

It's a good slice of life but it's chaos.
look personal opinion for me if organised better chapter wise like follow one character or one timeline and place would be find cause I can't follow 10 side characters and main character that now background character story arcs it's too confusing and sometimes I just don't like characters and stories and the fact I can't skip them cause ill miss out on three other characters and their stories that I do want to follow eh poor organising of chapters in a book. And another point lost for too many side characters that the book then starts following their story arcs that don't really mean much to the story. Travis dose an amazing job as always. maybe this audio is ment to be listened to multiple times so I can understand what's going on and hold interest and that probably me or maybe this book should've been split up into multiple books or organised better chapter wise so if a reader wants too they can just follow their characters they want to follow. So 3/5 overall 5/5 for voice 4/5 for story.

Absolutely Amazing! Watch out Patrick Rothfuss :3
This whole series so far has been one of the best I've ever read. it actually reminds me of a more humorous Patrick Rothfuss at times. Each character has so much personality, It's hard not to be completely enthralled and invested in every one of their stories, separately and together.
I honestly have loved these books so much that I even teared up in the fist book, in between laughing out loud.
I hate that it's going to take so long to read the next book, but the quality is worth the wait.
ON THE ODD CHANCE THAT CASUALFARMER READS HIS REVIEWS.
First of all, thank you for the beautiful stories you've written and the journey you've taken me on..
but..

A perfect subversion
In Xianxai you typically see humanity at its worst. Scheming, plotting, betrayal, jealousy, covetous lechery, and outright genicide over slights. And it’s always portrayed as inevitable. Of course humans would abandon also sense of honor and decency when there’s immortality on the line.
This series subverts all of that. Not just with its slightly silly premise, but with the real down to earth main character and how he spreads his good vibes to make the world a better place. He puts kindness out into the world, and slowly the world gives it back.
We give to the land, and the land gives back.

Nice Slice of Life
Great characters and character development. All of the characters from the mc and his wife to his disciples, both human and animal, and even the insects have continuously grown throughout the series. The characters are likable and have great adventures that allow the reader to experience their world. There is a mystery and an underlying darkness that is present which greatly enhances the depth of the story. This is a fun series and I recommend it for those who don’t need a ton of bloodshed in their cultivation novels.

Family, Spirit Beast's, Friends all enjoy the Fa'Ram!
Casualfarmer really out did himself when he wrote this outstanding book. And it quickly zoom up to one of my favorites. It's such a fantastic cultivation novel. It's a great slice-of-life style story as it unfolds until it stops, and the competition and fighting starts.
Jin Rou has so far managed to stay under the radar, protected by the terrain, the Fa'Ram (farm), and his wonderful family, plus all the spirit beast's he calls his brothers!
But when Tigu actually lands in second place at the end the competition, it not only puts herself but, Jin Rou her training Master and Fa'Ram in the limelight!!! And there's no goin back!
You'll hafta grab this book quick to find out how that works out!
And Travis Baldree narration was just sublime.

Mc intelligence is low
I couldn't take how stupid the MC was written. I mean the first few books were fine but after he started business and started interacting with more shrewd people it was really painful to listen to his increasing stupidity. I'm actually disappointed. he had no mental growth and it was so painful I had to stop several times before I got through it. I even typed this out mid way I'm so annoyed. less enjoyment more disappointment. sigh I was really looking forward to his mental growth and got none. I know he wanted little trouble but I don't consider letting yourself get fleeced because your lazy and stupid "less trouble" just stupid.

What more can I say? If you made it this far you know the gem of a series you've found. This book keeps up the great progress. My only complaint is I don't know how I'll wait for book 4.

Fantastic continuation of the story!
I must begin by saying that listening to Mr. Baldree is a rare treat. Very good choice for the series.
The series continues to deliver. I have enjoyed every second of the book. I can only wish there were more. Slice of life or not, this has kept me on the edge of my seat and got my attention from start to finish. If there will be a hounded books, I will buy them all.
Congrats to everybody involved in the project! Please keep up the good work!

An Excellent Addition
Good story and good narration! A bit more action in this book than the last one but still has that slice of life undertone. Recommend. I hope the next one comes out soon!

Beware Fun Times Had.
I'm a sucker for a novel that takes a trope and flipps it towards a new way. I like how this story is developing since book one and it continues to amuse and entertain me. Good job and looking forward to the next book.
This book is not as much " Ha ha ha" as the others but fun in other ways. I love the whole " we are farmers, not cultivators" look and this book deepens a good part of that.

Need more!
Each of the characters have grown, become better at what they can do. In this book they made more friends, but also it seems they have drawn more attention to themselves. I want Gramps to come see his boy but I just know he will be able to tell that something is wrong, and I don't want them to fight! lol

How is this series getting even more better
If you're three books deep, then you'll acknowledge that this series is soul food for xianxia boffins, for slice of life connoisseurs, for cozy, feelzy, warmzy purveyors.
Travis Baldree, long may your dulcets bring to life CasualFarmer Magnus Opus.
This tale I sincerely declare is the best xianxia tale I have had the pleasure to consume so far.
It's one of the few stories that I am hanging on every word, actively listening as events unfold bit by bit, never relegating it to the background whilst performing daily activities, it holds me wrought and doesn't let up. Finished it in 2 days and will return just before its follow up.
Not ashamed to admit I get teary eyed throughout the emotional moments....this is my go too soul food slice of life cultivation.
Bring on the 4th book soonish, yeah!

Contender for Favourite Book Series!
Another outstanding installment. Funny, entertaining, imaginative, wholesome, even poetic in places.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and look forward to the next!
