Publisher's Summary

In this novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Detective Eve Dallas' investigation of a homicide at her husband’s hotel leads to a murderer with a passion for the finer things in life - and in death...

At the luxurious Roarke Palace Hotel, a maid walks into suite 4602 for the nightly turndown - and steps into her worst nightmare. A killer leaves her dead, strangled by a thin silver wire. He’s Sly Yost, a virtuoso of music and murder. A hit man for the elite. Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows him well. But in this twisted case, knowing the killer doesn’t help solve the crime. Because there’s someone else involved. Someone with a more personal motive. And Eve must face a terrifying possibility - that the real target may, in fact, be her husband Roarke…

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

The narrator is improving with the inflections.

2022 AUDIBLE REVIEW
I have also started buying the audible books and have listened to the audio book version as well.
The narrator is improving with the overall inflection, or I am getting more used to her narration style, and seems to be improving with separating the characters voices.
I can separate the voices of the main characters better.
BOOK REVIEW
I started with the paperback editions many years ago and have since switched to the eBook editions for reading.
Read and reviewed previously but review is missing. No hardship to reread this series for the third or fourth time.
Once again an entertaining read with our favourite characters doing their parts.
Commander Whitney gets to flex his, I’m in charge muscles and we get some angst between Peabody and McNab, changing their relationship status again.
Eve has to do the friend part of man bashing with Peabody whilst eating copious amounts of ice cream.
Nice that even though Eve struggles to do relationships, whether with Roarke or others, she is learning and trying to be better.
Somerset gets some action in this book with the killer and mate from Roarke’s past comes to visit.
Though the ending was extremely sad at one certain point, overall it felt unfinished and unbalanced as too many baddies to name are able, or allowed to, get away with their actions.
I like everything tied up which Eve doesn’t do in this book.
I disliked the FBI agents behaviour and thought it wrong that Eve hands off the collar, especially due to what happens to Yost.
Stowe did not deserve that nicety from Eve and I hope Jacoby gets fired.
