Story
On Lust and On Longing together for the first time. When On Lust was first published it caused a media sensation: Blanche d'Alpuget wrote of a pillar of society who had molested children and of events that ended in mystery. Now she reveals all. On Longing caused a similar sensation, for different reasons. D'Alpuget dared to write that she loved and had inspired love in a man already adored by the public. Here are the raw and timeless themes of the power and powerlessness inherent to lust, love, loss and death.

Story
The residents in Brisbane's Riverview apartment block barely know each other. They have no idea of the loneliness, the lost hopes and dreams, being experienced behind their neighbours' closed doors. Vera, now widowed, is trying her hardest to create a new life for herself in an unfamiliar city environment. Story
Marissa Irvine arrives at 14 Tudor Grove, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn't a mother she recognises. She isn't the nanny. She doesn't have Milo. And so begins every parent's worst nightmare. As news of the disappearance filters through the quiet Dublin suburb and an unexpected suspect is named, whispers start to spread about the women most closely connected to the shocking event. Because only one of them may have taken Milo - but they could all be blamed.

Publisher's Summary
Betoota-isms is a guide to The Betoota Advocate's most memorable slang, nicknames and sayings. It's similar to other dictionaries, or a book of words as they're know out here, because it offers an annual snapshot of the lexicon from out here. Not only is Betoota-isms a deep dive into Australian culture, invention and creativity, it's also a complete record of 'English' as it is used from the Member's Box of the MCG to the change rooms of the Betoota Dolphins rugby league club.
The Betoota Advocate prides itself as not only Australia's oldest newspaper, but also its most ardent documenter of our nation's ever-changing language.
Discover the meaning of the Michelle Pfeiffer (the Pfizer). Identify, with confidence, our nation's leaders: Scotty from Marketing, Dictator Dan and Hot Mess Gladys. Ask your mate to pick you up a Bachelor's Handbag and some bread rolls on his next run to Coles.
As authoritative as the Macquarie Dictionary and as exhaustive as a Fortitude Valley pub crawl, Betoota-isms is your one-stop guide to the grandeur of the great Australian vernacular.
The Betoota Advocate is a small and independent regional newspaper from Far West Queensland. We pride ourselves on reporting fair and just news with an authenticity that rivals only the salt on the sunburnt earth that surrounds us here in the Queensland Channel Country. Established in the mid-1800s, we are arguably Australia's oldest newspaper and have always taken pride in our ability to report both regional and metropolitan news. Recently, our popularity has grown immensely as result of a bold online revival.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
Very funny. Love Australian humour. Audible should use more Australian accents in their book narrations.

Legends in their own lunchboxes
It is a Qld journal so I should have realised it would be parochial. Lower your expectations and you'll have a laugh.
