Bergmilch ist eine weiße Kalkspatablagerung im inneren eines Berges. Die Erzählung von Adalbert Stifter spielt zur Zeit der französischen Kriege. Die Farbe Weiß wird durch den Mantel des Feindes, der am Ende der Erzählung zu einem Freund wird, kommuniziert. So wird eine Brücke zwischen der Beschreibung der Schönheiten der Natur und der inneren Wandlung der Protagonisten von Feinden zu Freunden geschaffen, die typisch für die literarische Strömung der Romantik ist. Bergmilch ist im Erzählband "Bunte Steine" (1853) enthalten.
