Publisher's Summary

"Resonance" is supposed to be a dream - that's when your soulmate is chosen for you. And everyone on the ice planet has hooked up with a big, hunky soulmate of their own...except me. So do I want a mate? Heck, yeah. More than anything, all I've ever wanted is to be loved by someone. Except that the soulmate chosen for me?

My least favorite person on the darn ice planet: Haeden's the most cranky, disapproving, unpleasant, overbearing male alien...so why is it that my body sings when he gets close? Why is he working so hard to prove to me that he's not as awful as I think he is? I hate him...don't I?

Contains mature themes.

still not as good as Liz and Georgie

I was pretty surprised that our hero turn so soft. throughout all the series he has been a grumpy and sour man. but as soon as he resonates he becomes almost shy and uncertain. Josie has a sad past as does her man but I was hoping there would be a little more fire between them the old Ruby Dixon came out when the sky claw turned up and I must confess I had a bit of a chuckle which I haven't done since book 1 and 2.
all in all it was an ok story but it's kind of been done in the earlier books, I think I have to give the barbarians a rest.

***Barbarian's Mate***

I love Josie and Haeden's story, their both had a very sad past specially our little Josie she is a fighter and a survivor who never gives up and doesn't complaint., she accepts and face all her problems head on and that is incredibly strong. Haeden the grumpy surly barbarian is perfect for Josie. Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd are both excellent narrators.

Josie & Haeden

This one ended up being one of my favorites of the series. I am sad that Audible only has six of this series out but I’m hoping there will be more in the future. I might have to read them, and who has time for that anymore. I do look forward to the next book though, Ruby Dixon is learning how to bring the reader in with just a hint of what is happening at the end of each book. I guess I will start her Dragon series now. Narrators do a great job.

Hidden depths.

First off: what a cheeky book cover!

This is book 6 in the ICE PLANET BARBARIAN SERIES and while each story stands alone, I recommend they be read in order.

This is Josie and Haeden’s story and I love how Haeden’s horrified expression at resonating with Josie is explained. Cranky Haeden is not what I expected – he was better. Josie has experienced similar past horrors to Tiffany in book 5, but her story is handled completely differently in that regard by author Ruby Dixon - because we are not all the same. This novel had unexpectedly deep and meaningful moments I thoroughly enjoyed, together with the romance.

Audible narrators Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

This series has been a welcome and unexpected boost to my romance listening enjoyment. It just keeps getting better.

I recommend this series.

Josie resonates!

Josie finally gets her man! The last Earth woman to resonate...or is she?
The woman who lavishes her love and attention on her friends’ children when what she really wants is her own....finally resonates...with the one man she doesn’t want. Josie spends way too much time fighting her attraction to Haeden, but when she takes off on her own, Josie has several surprises in store for her.
I just have to say, Wow - sexy walking? The only other author to make that work was Jaid Black in No Mercy. Wait, also, Loving Deviant by Laurann Dohner.
Jackson does a really good job voicing emotions. I really appreciate the combination of Jackson and Lloyd as narrators. Their voices are complimentary and fit the series.

Blue is in

These blue aliens just do it for me. Book 6 is Haeden and Josie’s book. Josie starts out with a serious chip on her shoulder towards Haeden but you can’t fight the cootie!! Eventually you have to give in.

This book is full of alpha sweetness. Haeden is not like the other aliens. He is a little less confident in his romancing abilities. He didn’t just take his woman, he let her come to him. While this was a very frustrating dynamic... it did shake things up a bit.

Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd are perfect for these books. Usually I would appreciate different voices for each series but in this case, no. I love them for these books and I am so glad they narrate each book.

Enemies to lovers!! My fave

Fun addition to the series. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope, and it's well done in this book. Haeden, the surly bitter alien hunter, is an absolute sweetie deep down. He also consistently has a problem with, uh, finishing a bit early. And I find it so gosh darn cute. What a fun, happy romance. There are some larger world-building events that excited me in this book, too. Still only 3 stars because the book is a straightforward campy romance with no deeper plot or character development outside the standalone romance in this book, so I can't justify 5 stars, even within this genre. Still, it's a digestable, fun romance on its own, and I recommend it fully. I like this pair so much that they're vying for my favorite out of the series. I just love the pairing of two people who think they hate each other finding out they love each other.

Josie is a bit selfish and cruel at the start, so much so that I almost stopped listening. But I'm so glad I stuck around because the payoff is so, so good. She realizes her mistakes and truly makes it up to our surly Haeden. I was a bit disappointed that he did not change much and continued to look down on the human women for their weakness. I tried to see it through the eyes of this book ("he's just scared they'll get hurt"), but it ultimately still feels condescending of him. I would have liked to have seen him identify strengths other than brute hunter strength in the women, or at the very least acknowledge that Josie saved their lives multiple times despite being technically physically weak.

I'm still not a big fan of the emphasis on pregnancy in this series. However, I've grown numb to the nonsense of it after 6 books (it still holds me back from rating any of these higher than 3 stars, though). I just don't care about making babies half as much as all these women, and I honestly don't believe a dozen women would be this one-note about it either. But the romance elements are fun.

Narration continues to be outstanding for this series.

Cruel Josie & horrified Haeden- enemies to lovers

Although you can read this series in any order, you should at least read book 1, before any of the others.

While not my favorite book in the series, this is still one of the more enjoyable ones. What I like most is fun, humorous, and sexy blue suede alien nooky. Next, I like sassy banter or two folks pushing each other’s buttons. My least favorite books in this series are the sweet, sappy ones. So, Josie and Haeden’s oil and vinegar rough start is at least energetic.

Like the prior book 5’s Tiffany, Josie has a tough past that includes rape. Everyone handles trauma differently, and Josie’s method is to rebel against resonance with Haeden, who appears horrified at being paired with Josie. Both suffer due to lack of communication and making assumptions about each other.

While I liked Josie in earlier books, I found her very cruel through the first half of this book, then cruelly teasing of Haeden the virgin, but ultimately she fights for her HEA. Haeden’s behavior was consistent with his grumpiness in prior books and his back story made him one of my favorite big blue lovers (did I say I didn’t care for sweet? Have to take that back a bit, because my heart aches for all he went through).

Ultimately, there’s a bit more world building, a little humor, and greater couple’s conflict that leads to a more meaningful, satisfying pairing

perpare yourself! josie is a bitch and selfish

i wish i would have never started reading this book!! the woman is a complete bitch! even if she has been thru a lot she never tries to understand where he is coming from and even after everyone keeps saying she is sooo very intelligent but she supposedly figures out why he is being ill tword her she is still a bitch!! i know there are people in the world who are really this selfish but the whole point of a book is to forget about people like this!! and i do see that she has had a bad life but why would that not make her want to connect to someone else just as damaged.

Hated Josie

I love the narration, the two narrators always do a great job. I loved Hayden, he was so sweet but I hated Josie. She was so selfish all the time. I understood that she had a bad childhood and early adulthood but I could not stand her. When she was eaten by the bird I was cheering instead of being worried. Would have rated this higher if not for Josie.

Another great Ice Planet story!

I really enjoyed Josie and Hayden’s story. The hero and heroine are at odds with each other from the very beginning of the humans crashing onto the planet. He’s always scowling at her and she’s always angry. When they suddenly resonate, Josie is not happy at all! Can Hayden get her to see him as good mate material? Or are they just doomed to disagree? Narration was very well done.

Misunderstanding

If you have never read the book.. or the series then you should! Fun easy to read alien romance series with great steamy sex!

This review is on the narration
5* for the story
4* for the narration
This is shared through two narrators and they do an ok job. Let me qualify, This was one of my favourites in the series... actual I had lots of favourites... but I chose this as the first to listen as audiobook. The narrators are clear and tell the story well, but the voices did not quite fit the characters. I could not figure out why the gruff blue alien sounded like a cliche grumpy Russian. By the end of the audiobook I was listening to the story but the the impression of grumpy Russian never left.

It could not have been a terrible experience because I purchased other audiobooks in the series... I just wonder if the next blue sexy alien has a German or French voice. If it is an alien with a very plummy British accent I think I would ask for a refund.... that would really never work

Awesome. I love this author, what can I say? 👍👍❤

This book was heartwarming as much as all of her books are. Very recommended!
