Publisher's Summary

Grow your own chickens, always eat organic and start a successful farming business!

People have never been more obsessed with the quality of their food. We are constantly bombarded with stories about damaging drugs, pesticides, and chemicals found in the food we consume every day - from vegetables to meat and everything in between.

Poultry meat, and especially chicken, has been heavily analyzed, and the results were defeating. It turns out, most chicken farms use a lot of antibiotics and other drugs to stimulate growth, fatten the animals up, and ultimately make more profit. Eating that meat, poisoned with chemicals, can seriously damage your health, and even cause cancer.

So, what can you do?

Have your own chicken farm!

It might sound like a complicated thing to do, but with this book, you’ll enjoy organic, healthy chicken meat and eggs in no time! Don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of space. This audiobook will show you how to grow quality chickens in even the smallest backyards.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to choose the breed of chicken to farm, based on whether you want to grow them for eggs, meat, or both
  • How to feed and grow healthy chickens, without drugs and other damaging compounds
  • How to raise chickens in any surroundings, including backyards
  • And much more!

Establishing a chicken farm doesn’t require a lot of investment. Growing chickens is simple, mainly because they don’t require a lot of space, and the costs of growing them are lower compared to some other livestock.

Use this book to find out how to eat healthy, attested food, and make a profit out of it!

My hens and I are happy for sure!

Wow! I have at least a dozen other books about raising backyard chickens, and this by far is the most well written and easy to understand. Martin writes (and the narrator reads) with an ease that makes you feel he's right there with you, answering your questions or helping you with a problem. He covers a wide range of topics that both first time and long-time chicken owners would find informative as well as entertaining. All my other books will now go up to the top shelf to gather dust and I will buy also the paper version of this one, it is going to be loving worn with dog-eared pages.

If You Want to Know What it is Really Like to Rais

Whether you are just getting started with chickens or have more than you can count, this audiobook will answer questions that you didn't even know to ask. Martin has a magical way of sharing his common sense approach to raising chickens, in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. This book covers the essentials but also helps people understand how chickens think and feel and why they do the weird things they do. The book is really well researched and it explains the reasons behind chicken's behaviors and needs. It covers everything from raising chicks, to roosters, to flock size to saying goodbye. However, what is so different about this book versus others AND what I love most about this book is it is written from Martin's perspective as a real-life person that keeps chickens in his backyard. So many people who gets chickens for the first time, always says "OMG, I never knew they were so smart, had so much personality, or that I could love them so much" -- it is like this huge revelation! So if you are looking for a book that will tell you what it is really like to have chickens, this is the book for you.

I wish I had this audiobook years ago!

This is a fantastic audiobook for those new to chicken keeping and well-seasoned chicken companions alike. It does more than cover the basics - it gives real world advice on the realities of bringing feathered ladies and gents into your home. I wish we had this audiobook when we first started with our 5 ladies! We were wholly unprepared for the amount of chicken poop that would take over our yard, but also how much we would fall in love with our new fluffy family members. This book is a must-have for those looking to start a flock or bring in a few (or many) new additions. Also, chicken math is a very real thing!

Educational and Emotional

This is a beautiful audiobook. It is definitely worth purchasing also the “paperback”. Rather than just another book about chicken care (illness, egg development, housing), Martin delves into both the mind and brain of a chicken. Their behavior both as an individual and a member of the flock, how their brains processes the world around them, even the emotions they show with one another. I was afraid the book was mostly going to be opinion based on the author’s observations of his own flock. Rather, it was a fascinating compilation of facts drawn from a variety of scientific sources with examples he believes to have seen in his own flock. Being both a science-minded person and animal lover, this book is delightful.
