About this listen
A woman says she had a nervous breakdown a long time ago and that since then she feels pressure everywhere; if she wants to do something, she reports, she turns it into pressure. Barry asks her what a nervous breakdown is, and she says she experiences it as her body not doing what she wanted to do. She says that on the telephone she cannot hear anymore, gets blockages, and cannot translate what people are saying, and that when she swallows she cannot swallow.

Barry described himself as the ‘Master of The West.’ His ideas, vocabulary and expressions are unmistakably and patently Western: down to earth and practical. His teaching is free from tradition or religion, be it Western or Eastern. Over more than twenty-five years he spoke to thousands of men and women and he addressed them where they were – in their real, living life. The reference point always being in living the truth now, not the past. In this directness lies Barry’s distinctive usefulness and uniqueness: a practical wisdom that addresses contemporary issues and presents a way to transform the unhappy human condition into the freedom of being.
