ホテルで窓から景色を見ていると、部屋に案内してくれた若い男性が、一山向こうが和歌山、
そして三重にも近いことを教えてくれました。ホテルの近くの日本料理の店に行ったら、隣の和歌山にも近いということを感じさせてくれる、驚きのものを食べさせてくれました。和歌山の磯間港でとれた「しらす」をのせた「しらす丼」です。伝統の小曳網漁（こびきあみりょう）で傷つけないように取られた磯間のしらすは「飲めるしらす」と表現できるほどです。奈良県葛城市で収穫したお米にたっぷりのしらす。そしておいしいたまごの黄身。「奈良にうまいものなし」と言ったのは志賀直哉でしたが、とんでもない。おいしいものがたくさんあります。
