Can You File a Claim Against a Public Official’s Bond?

It is April 18th. Welcome to YesToHellWith.com.

Many people ask: can I make a claim against the bond?

Sometimes, yes.

But you must understand the difference between: - A complaint - A lawsuit - A claim against the bond

A bond claim is usually made directly to the surety company.

You identify: - The official - The office - The bond number - The misconduct - The damages

Then you send notice.

For example:

“Please accept this as notice of claim against Bond Number 12345 issued for John Smith, Sheriff of Page County. On April 1, 2026, Sheriff Smith seized my property without lawful authority. Attached are the records, correspondence, and damages.”

Do not exaggerate. Do not become emotional.

Facts. Dates. Documents.

The Liberty Dialogues teaches that the strongest claim is not the loudest claim. It is the best documented claim.

And remember:

The bond company may not want to pay. But they may also not want a claim history.

That gives you leverage.
