Welcome back to The Life During And After GLP-1 Podcast hosted by Daryl Perry of Your Level Fitness.

In this episode Daryl walks through what many people want to know when they begin this journey. What should you expect during your first month on a GLP-1 medication?

For many people the early weeks can bring noticeable changes very quickly. Appetite may shift, food preferences may change, and the way you approach meals may feel very different than it has for most of your life. While these changes can feel exciting, they can also feel unfamiliar, which is why giving yourself grace during this period is so important.

Daryl explains that many people notice rapid changes in hunger and appetite signals during the first month. You may think about food less often, snack less frequently, or even feel unsure about when you want to eat. These shifts can help create the conditions for weight loss, but they also require some adjustment as your body and mind begin to adapt.

Another change people often experience involves portion sizes and eating pace. Meals that once felt normal may suddenly feel too large, and eating more slowly may become necessary to stay comfortable and satisfied. These changes can actually help strengthen habits around awareness and portion control as you build a new rhythm around eating.

Finally, Daryl talks about the mental and emotional adjustment that often happens during this phase. Seeing the scale change or noticing rapid physical changes can feel exciting, but it can also take time for your mind to catch up with what is happening in your body. This is where the inside/out approach becomes important, focusing not only on the results but also on learning to appreciate who and what you see in the mirror throughout the process.
