About this listen

Good morning. West Virginia. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside right now and you'll feel 57 degrees. Feels more like May than March, but don't get too comfortable. Moving on, A weak system brushes through today bringing scattered showers, central West Virginia sees rain between 8 A.M. and 10 A.M. — brief, light, then done. Down south, showers hold off until early afternoon, peaking around 4 P.M. Up in the Northern Panhandle? Just a quick chance around 6 P.M, most of this stays light. Temperature-wise. Highs climb into the low to mid 70s statewide, charleston reaches 78 degrees. Wheeling tops out at 74, down in the southern mountains, you hit 72. Southwest winds stay light, 5 to 9 miles an hour. As the sun sets. Tonight stays mild with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Partly cloudy. A few scattered showers or storms possible before sunrise. Now here's where things get interesting. Wednesday brings the main event — rain and thunderstorms, some potentially strong to severe. We're talking damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible Wednesday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of our area under a Slight Risk. Southwest winds gust to 29 miles an hour ahead of a cold front. Highs Wednesday jump to the upper 70s to low 80s — Charleston near 83 degrees — before that front crashes through. Wednesday night, everything changes, rain transitions to snow as temperatures plummet. Thursday morning lows drop to the mid 30s with highs only reaching the mid 40s. Gusty northwest winds make it feel even colder. Friday brings clearing skies and a rebound to the upper 50s to low 60s. The weekend looks pleasant — mostly sunny Saturday with highs in the mid 60s, then another rain chance Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the mild weather while it lasts. Wednesday's going to be a wild ride. Looking ahead. See you this afternoon.
