About this listen

Good morning. Maryland. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel 51 degrees. That mild air? It's just the opening act. Patchy fog near the Chesapeake Bay burns off by mid-morning, then sunshine takes over and temperatures climb fast. Baltimore hits 74 degrees by 3 P.M., central Maryland reaches 67. Western Maryland? You're the winner today at 77 degrees under full sun, perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. As the sun sets. Tonight stays comfortable. Baltimore drops to 57, central Maryland settles at 52. Western Maryland cools to 59, light southerly winds keep things mild. **Wednesday's the Plot Twist** Wednesday morning starts warm — flirting with record territory as temperatures push toward the mid-70s. That's when things get interesting. Moving on, A powerful cold front barrels in Wednesday afternoon, showers and thunderstorms fire up between 8 A.M. and 2 P.M. Some could turn severe, damaging winds, large hail, even an isolated tornado are possible. Western Maryland faces the highest risk, winds gust to 26 miles an hour ahead of the front. The front crashes through Wednesday night with rain showers. Then everything changes. **Thursday Brings the Crash** Thursday morning delivers a brutal 31 degrees to 30 degrees temperature drop, baltimore struggles to 54. Central Maryland hits 54, western Maryland barely reaches 50. Northwest winds gust to 30 miles an hour, while western mountains could see a coating of snow on grassy surfaces. Classic Maryland — dramatic and unapologetic. **Here's Your Week Ahead** Friday turns mostly sunny with highs in the low 50s, saturday stays pleasant near 54. Sunday climbs to the low 60s before another system brings rain Sunday night into Monday. If you've got outdoor plans Wednesday afternoon, move them to today or wait until Friday. Looking ahead. See you this afternoon.
