RMO（Region Management Organization：地域運営組織）は、地域住民が主体となり、様々な関係主体と連携して地域課題の解決や持続可能な地域運営を行う組織です。これまでは地域の住民ネットワークの基盤は、自治会・町内会などの地縁組織でしたが、近年の問題の複雑化、多様化していく中でNPOなども含めた多様な地域の担い手も参画し、マネジメントしていくための基盤として期待されています。この動きは中山間地域だけでなく、多様な活動がありながらもバラバラに活動しがちな都市部でも求められるでしょう。RMOの意味と可能性について話しています。
