"Kostgeber", so stellt sich heraus, haben ihn – keineswegs freiwillig – aufgenommen. Dokumente seiner Herkunft fehlen, anscheinend auch jede Erinnerung des Kindes an frühere Begebenheiten. Alles bleibt rätselhaft. Doch der Knabe lernt sich ohne Zuspruch und emotionale Zuwendung in einer gefühlsarmen Umgebung zu behaupten und beginnt alles Nötige für ein gelungenes Leben zu lernen.
