Spooked by a terrifying storm and equally frightening, recurring dream, Melissa Jenkins had no idea the real nightmare was just beginning and would involve a family she'd never met. Melissa volunteers at the Serenity Institute. During her work there, she unknowingly participates in experimental procedures being developed for unscrupulous governments. Seeing things are not right, she sets out to save a patient she's befriended: Noah Rucker.
Meanwhile, Noah's stepbrother, Gabriel, also senses trouble at the Institute. He and his buddies set out to rescue Noah.
Gabriel and Melissa have a happenstance meeting that generates a strong, familiar and intense attraction. Together, along with their friends and a few unlikely heroes, they stage a hostile takeover of the institute.
