About this listen

Victims is a mix of dystopian fiction, science fiction books for adults, and dystopian romance. This young adult book is intended for ages 12-18 and follows a group of orphans who form a resistance and rise against an authoritarian regime known as Congress. Victims is similar to the Hunger Games books, Maze Runner, Divergent, and many other YA Dystopian classics.

STORY:

After the cataclysmic world event known as The Fallout, society regresses into city-states and mobs of marauders. Dust covers the now lifeless world. A thick haze hangs over skyscrapers, fading into an abyss of smoke.

Since The Fallout, a systematized group known as Congress has taken over. They enforce strict laws, oppressive regimes, and strike down any rebellion that dares stand in the way of their perverted nationalism. They patrol the barren streets at dusk and annihilate anyone they deem a threat to their crooked ideals or their sociopolitical power.

Mike, the son of a Congress Member, leaves home and meets a group of orphans whose elite Congress Member fathers have also abandoned. Together, they explore the wasteland of their destroyed city and scavenge for food, shelter, and anything that'll help them fight back against Congress. However, trouble soon finds the orphans, and they quickly learn they can trust no one, and their next day is never guaranteed.
