About this listen

New York City is experiencing one of its lowest homicide rates ever, with just 297 homicides through December 21st. This is in line with record lows from 2017 and 2018, and a significant drop from the pandemic spike of 462 homicides in 2020. The city has also seen a record 12-day streak without a homicide. Shootings are down as well, with 652 incidents and 812 victims in the first eleven months, the lowest ever for that period. Experts and NYPD leaders credit smart policing strategies, such as increased foot patrols and targeting repeat offenders, for the drop in crime. Nationally, major crimes are also falling after pandemic highs. Checkout Solipillow.com
