About this listen
University of Florida students Sonja Larson, Christina Powell, Manuel Taboada, and Tracy Inez Paules, as well as Santa Fe College student Christa Hoyt, were all brutally murdered in August 1990. The killer, who came to be known as the Gainesville Ripper, was caught and convicted. In this special recap episode, we chat with Justin McDonald, who was just starting his freshman year at the University of Florida when the murders occurred.
In addition to Justin's experience, we listened to three separate, single-episode podcasts on the case:
- Last Podcast on the Left (ok, this one is 2 episodes)
- Campus Killings
- Fatal Blend

In our Winter Shorts Recaps, we dive into a crime by focusing on a single podcast episode, rather than a longer series. The days in winter are too short for long series! Time Machine episodes are released each Thursday. Recaps are released the following Tuesday.
