  • Claudia Chan Shaw | Sure. I Can Do That!
    Mar 29 2026

If you have ever doubted your ability, this podcast will show you what becomes possible when you decide, “Sure. I can do that.”

In this episode of the Power Of Women Podcast, Di Gillett sits down with Claudia Chan Shaw: designer, curator, broadcaster, artist, author and cultural tour leader, to unpack a career built on one defining philosophy: “Sure. I can do that.”

Claudia’s portfolio career spans fashion, television, radio, public art, authorship and international cultural tours. As co-designer and director of the internationally acclaimed Vivian Chan Shaw label, she helped build a handmade Australian fashion house whose designs now sit in the permanent collection of the Powerhouse Museum.

From door-knocking boutiques across America in the 1980s to co-hosting ABC TV’s Collectors, curating the Sydney Chinese New Year Festival, leading global Art Deco tours, and sitting for eleven Archibald Prize portraits - Claudia has consistently said yes before knowing exactly how the path would unfold.

    This conversation explores:

The power of maternal legacy and growing up with a formidable mother

Building and scaling a fashion brand rooted in craftsmanship

The commercial courage behind saying yes and working out the “how” later

Collecting as obsession, identity and opportunity

Reinvention at 50, 60 and beyond

Why women should never feel compelled to choose just one path

Claudia’s career is proof that curiosity compounds, self-belief multiplies, and you create your own success – no luck needed.
