Publisher's Summary

Ever get the feeling that you're destined for great things, but you don't quite know how to get started? Perhaps you're stuck in a rut with life passing you by and a fear that you will die wondering what you could have achieved? If so this audiobook is for you.

Average 70kg D--khead tracks key life events of Dr Dan Pronk, from his beginnings as an average chubby kid, through his failed attempt at professional triathlon, onto becoming a doctor, joining army Special Forces, being decorated for his conduct in action in Afghanistan, and then onto his post-army career as a medical executive and co-owner of a multi-million-dollar business.

Throughout the audiobook Dan shares his motivational philosophies and key lessons learned from his journey. He breaks down the goal-setting process and provides examples of how seemingly impossible goals can be deconstructed into smaller and smaller achievable sub-goals, creating a clear pathway to getting started and moving towards your ambitious objectives. Dan highlights the crucial factor of persistence in goal attainment and uses case studies from the Special Forces selection process to illustrate that average people with above-average persistence will beat stronger, smarter, faster, and more educated people who are not as willing to persist every time.

This audiobook will inspire you to do more. Be it to get off the couch and get started, or double down on your existing goals and supercharge your commitment to them. You only get one go at this life, so what are you waiting for? Give it a listen and get going!

Loved the straight talking

I bought the book expecting an autobiography but what I got was actually one if the best motivation / life lesson books I've ever read.

If you enjoyed David Goggins then do yourself a favour and pick this up!

Must read

Phenomenal book. Helps put some perspective on the folks who seem to achieve it all: slow and steady wins the race. So much to learn from here, Dan’s life is fascinating. Highly recommend!

Relatable, Comedic and Informative all at the same time.

This book spoke to me on so many levels. It’s a confidence boosting series of stories, without actually trying to be. Which makes for a refreshing change.

The writer doesn’t ever try to play down his faults and in a lot of scenarios, even tries to boast about them.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Just a damn good book

Was such a listening pleasure. So many take aways from Dans life learnings that will resonate in some form of another with everyone who reads/listens to his stories and experiences. No spoilers However, unfortunately I can’t ‘un-imagine’ the image of Dan in his very last story dressed in his gym gear doing what he did!!

Great story

A non sugar coated bullshit free yarn about a guy who set out to get it done and then did it! A great behind the scenes look at how Dan just kept putting one foot in front of the other until he ended up where he wanted to be. I especially enjoyed the story of the suck meter. There isn’t a person in the western world today who couldn’t take something away from that chapter alone. Keep up the great work Dan.

Average 60 kg civilian

I follow Dan on Instagram and bought the audiobook after seeing a post and comments about it. I am not an Operator groupie (full disclosure I do have a pair of Ranger panties but they were a gift). I am a female, regretfully I never served in military but do have many years in emergency medicine. Aside from the panties and medicine I didn’t think I would identify with much in Dan’s story. Despite the differences Dan’s stories resonated with me. I was surprised by the personal experiences that were relatable, motivational, and even entertaining at times.
I highly recommend listening rather than reading. I enjoyed the Aussie accent and the off-script additions Dan provides on occasion. Either way, we’ll worth the couple bucks, even if you are just an average 60 kg civilian.

Great audiobook for goal setting

Really liked how down to earth Dan is. Was good to have the occasional off script as well which you wouldn’t get from just reading the book.

Excellent audiobook if you find yourself somewhat stuck at an impasse. Dan talks about his achievements and how he achieved them by way of appropriate goal setting.
