Kaiser Maximilian I. besaß hier ein Haus und Kaiser Karl V. hatte eigene Räume im Fuggerschen Stadtpalast.Nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg endete die Augsburger Pracht für lange Zeit. Erst mit Leopold Mozart, Rudolf Diesel und Berthold Brecht schimmerte dieser Glanz in Bayerns drittgrößter Stadt wieder auf.
