Not just a "survival phrases course" Real Latin

Many times

NA

Hear spoken Latin

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NA

Any additional comments?

This is not just a "survival phrases course". This is a course teaching you Latin through conversational type sentences. Singular and plural nouns, pronouns, adjectives, various cases and verbs (present, imperative and infinitive) . This would be a great addition to any Latin course. Classical Pronunciation. It uses Latin word order not English. It has very limited vocabulary, but this is what you want for this type of course. Most lessons would take 3 or four days to master. You can listen to the Audible.com version and read the Kindle written version. Kenneth please write more lessons.

Good to help build core verbal classical Latin.

Salve. Highly recommended for those who want to develop verbal fluency. By repeated listening and speaking, these classical Latin lessons help build a core language base to build upon. Looking forward to the release of the follow-on lessons - Audio Latin 11-20 by Kenneth Wolfe. Tibi gratias argo. Vale.

Excellent resource

This is an invaluable resource for anyone learning Latin. Using the audio as a supplement to a course like Wheelock or Lingua Latina really helps to consolidate what I have learned and to practice using the language in an accessible and portable format. I will be buying the morphology audio as soon as i have finished this one!

Works if you put in effort

I have listened twice to it the first time I got little to nothing, the second time I did what was told to do, and I got a lot more out of it this time around.

Best intro to spoken Classical Latin on Audible

Perfect for beginners. Repetition of each phrase allows for reinforcement of learning. Helps build an intuitive understanding of Latin pronunciation.

Y'all in Latin?

The instructor was thorough. Some phrases make no sense in English, but maybe in Latin? He kept saying y'all instead of you all!

A mistake to buy this

I’m trying to learn Latin and so bought this thinking it would be some audio pronunciation guides and then maybe some reading of texts.

How wrong I was! It’s an attempt to do a Latin version of the modern language audio books. I find those difficult and seen as I am neither Catholic nor have I invented a time machine I am very unlikely to have need of conversational Latin.

Maybe it becomes more useful later but it’s not read in the most exciting way (i.e. with almost no inflection and sounding like someone’s hobby project) so I definitely won’t be sticking it. and regret downloading it.

not good at all

Not brilliant IMHO. The guy has a grating voice and his Classical (not ecclesiastical which is different) pronunciation is a bit off .... I already have a certain amount of Latin. I was using this to augment my knowledge and pronunciation. My linguistics proffessor would be horrified. Admittedly I only listened to 5mins but his pronunciation of puella was enough.... sorry.
