I’m new to the Vinyl Detective Series and have just devoured the all six audible novels. They are wonderfully written and narrated. Highly recommend the whole series. Enjoy.

until now. I've loved this series until now, and was delighted to place my preorder for Attack & Decay. I lasted 10 chapters before giving up. It's charmless and boring - totally unlike the earlier book. "What starts out as charming can all to quickly become tiresome" to quote Cartmel himself. The character of Tinkler is becoming particularly annoying. And has Finlay Robertson always employed that irritatingly stilted reading style?

I've never read a boring Cartmel book...
