Die Frage der endgültigen Lagerung von Atommüll ist ein Problem von nationaler Tragweite, dessen Lösung immer dringender wird, bisher aber sehr kontrovers diskutiert wird und mit vielen Emotionen verknüpft ist. Es besteht in Deutschland ein Konsens, diese Abfälle innerhalb der Landesgrenzen dauerhaft in tiefliegenden Gesteinsschichten abzulagern. Diese Art der Endlagerung ist aber in erster Linie ein geologisches Problem und so auch nur von geologischer Seite her zu lösen.
Daher stellt der Geologe Ulrich Dornsiepen die Problematik der Endlagerung objektiv, ideologiefrei und allgemein verständlich dar. Ein solches Hörbuch ist dringend nötig, da zwar die Information und Beteiligung breiter, betroffener Bevölkerungsteile eingefordert, aber niemals versucht wird, die offenen geologischen Fragen und ihre wissenschaftliche Lösung verständlich zu machen.
