Story
A lost race of elves, the taredhel or 'people of the stars', have found a way across the universe to reach Midkemia. On their current home world, these elves are hard pressed by a ravaging demon horde, and what was once a huge empire has been reduced to a handful of survivors. The cornerstone of taredhel lore is the tale of their lost origins in the world they call simply 'Home', a place lost in the mists of time. Now they are convinced that Midkemia is that place, and they are coming to reclaim it.

The second instalment of The Riftwar Legacy, Assassins reveals Feist at his storytelling best. There is intrigue, humour, and breakneck action aplenty here from the undisputed master of epic fantasy. Fresh back from the front, another foe defeated, Prince Arutha arrives to find all is not well in Krondor. A series of apparently random murders has brought an eerie quiet to the city.

Publisher's Summary
The conclusion of the bestselling Demon War series, which began with Rides a Dread Legion.
Recent events have devastated the Conclave of Shadows; the discovery of the Demon horde on the heels of the taredhel invasion of Midkemia, the threat of the star elves themselves, and the terrible personal cost paid by Pug and his family. But grieving must wait.
At a deserted fortress in the Valley of Lost Men, the Conclave's agents witness horror beyond their imagination, orchestrated by a familiar enemy. But Belasco's motives are as yet unclear.
The Conclave must regroup and discover the true meaning behind the chaos seeded by the evil magician if they are ever to find a way to stop the destruction of Triagia before the demon horde even arrives.

fantasy is difficult in an audio format.
the number one sense you get with fantasy is that your imagination can conjure amazing scenes. However when there is a narrator, in your endeavor to keep up with the story your imagination can't keep up. I did find as I got through the book that it became better but not to the point where you enjoy it as much as reading it yourself.
I'll have to go back and read this one myself to justify another rating.

Great Epic Story
A story which is bringing near to conclusion an epic spanning several generations of characters. Having read all the books from Magician thru all series to 'At the Gates of Darkness', I always look forward to the next installment which twists and turns the fate of people and worlds.
It's just a pity that the whole saga isn't available on Audible at present as listening add another dimension to the whole experience of the books. I certainly recommend the Audio Books in this series and if the others are not available then go and read the books -

Excellent series
The saga of Pug and his friends continues at a pace. all in all I enjoyed the story. I've always been impressed by these stories however a have to admit that I was just a little disappointed with just narration, this is mainly due to change made to some of the characters voices that were made. it seems a small point however after all the books that have gone before I would have expected better continuity.

Below Par
It was below par compared to other books. It limped along building the story across multiple threads but suddenly then seem to accelerate to the end action. I guess that’s partly the perception created by its short length compared to most other books.

Disappointing
The sequel ends without any information on why the world is being attacked. Seems like the same entity has been causing all the problems since the very first book the magician but story ends in a mystery. Other than introducing the new elven race and Mirandas death theres not much substance in this book.

Rushed finale
Having really enjoyed rides a dread legion I was a little disappointed with this book. A lot of the characters introduced seemed to halt in their development and the story seemed to hurtle towards a rather inevitable conclusion. The Taradel seem to have been relegated to interesting back story with I found disappointing.
