Publisher's Summary

Neil deGrasse Tyson's number-one New York Times best-selling guide to the cosmos, adapted for young listeners.

From the basics of physics to big questions about the nature of space and time, celebrated astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson breaks down the mysteries of the cosmos into bite-sized pieces. Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry describes the fundamental rules and unknowns of our universe clearly - and with Tyson's characteristic wit, there's a lot of fun thrown in, too.

This adaptation by Gregory Mone includes extra explanations to make even the trickiest concepts accessible. Building on the wonder inspired by outer space, Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry introduces an exciting field and the principles of scientific inquiry to young listeners.

Inspiring story for kids

My kids were thoroughly engaged in this audiobook and have been asking questions about space ever since. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic and educational

Narrator, a voice you trust, educates, and entertains. An author who is so clever with his words, you forget you are hearing an educational book. This book is a win for parents and a win for young folks.

Well written for anyone to understand

The target audience is clearly for younger children, but it may be a good starter for adults as well who don't like a lot of scientific lingo nor math. I personally like it because it's included in my audible membership. Most of NGT's books need to be purchased or credits available. This book breaks down astrophysics in a very elementary way and the narrator reads it well in a similar style as NGT himself. 5 stars.

I Wanted to Love It... But

Neil DeGrasse Tyson is one of the best writers, if not the best writer, of science for the layperson. And I have always enjoyed LaVar Burton's work so I had very high hopes. But unfortunately, the best way I can describe the narration is choppy. I could not get past it, so as good as the writing is I found I could not finish this audio production.

Please no

Narrator has the most distracting voice. I’ve listened to NDGT’s original at least 3x; I bought this for my niece and won’t be sharing it with her. Thanks for using female pronouns yet cannot get over weirdest syncopation, beat slam read voice, it needs to go... yikes, let’s pls. have own voice going forward!

Amazing 🤩

A really amazing explanation of our universe. Understandable and not over complicated but not patronising which is quite rare in books aimed at younger people. Definitely recommend!
