Publisher's Summary

The essential universe, from our most celebrated and beloved astrophysicist.

What is the nature of space and time? How do we fit within the universe? How does the universe fit within us? There’s no better guide through these mind-expanding questions than acclaimed astrophysicist and bestselling author Neil deGrasse Tyson.

But today, few of us have time to contemplate the cosmos. So Tyson brings the universe down to Earth succinctly and clearly, with sparkling wit, in digestible chapters consumable anytime and anywhere in your busy day.

While waiting for your morning coffee to brew, or while waiting for the bus, the train, or the plane to arrive, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry will reveal just what you need to be fluent and ready for the next cosmic headlines: from the Big Bang to black holes, from quarks to quantum mechanics, and from the search for planets to the search for life in the universe.

A great and engaging intro to the topic

A great and engaging intro to the topic.
This has been by far the best explanation I have ever had on this incredibly amazing topic. Neil doing the audio brought the passion and message to the front.

Pay attention

Awesome read and quick to get through, there was some points where I found myself losing understanding so I think it’s important to truely pay attention while listening to this book, maybe not the best read while driving.

Actively listening is certainly necessary as complex situations and theory’s are explain somewhat simply.

Enjoy the read!
Thanks Neil.

Easy to get lost if you don't know the topic

Knowing little of this before, I found it easy to lose track of what was happening. If you're new to the subject, I think reading this would be better than listening.

What a fascinating universe

So comforting to feel part of something so awesome, put my troubles into perspective! Mr Tyson voice also seems perfect, deep like the universe he explained so well

A great very short and very basic introduction.

It's great to hear Neil read his book. I will however say it's very basic and if you've got a rudimentary understanding of cosmic ongoing then you'll likely just be refreshing yourself.

Worth listening to

This is good book and a worthwhile listen. I'm relatively familiar with the aspects touched on in this book, but it was still enjoyable to remind myself of some of the details. My only criticism is that the narration is sometimes trying a little too hard for gravitas so comes across as a bit breathy, however I found the same thing listening to Carl Sagan and he's as beloved as Neil so I accept that my perception of the narration style is probably the outlier. Ultimately I definitely do recommend listening to this book.
