About this listen

Lust. Ambition. Murder.

When a beautiful, wealthy student is found dead in her room in Oxford's most prestigious college, Detective Inspector Bridget Hart is called to investigate. The murdered girl appeared to have no enemies, yet was killed in a brutal and bloody assault.

Haunted and driven by her own personal tragedy, newly promoted DI Bridget Hart has a lot to prove as she leads her first murder case. Her investigation uncovers a tangled web of lies, lust and ambition, and brings her into conflict with powerful interests.

But no one can be above suspicion within the closed and claustrophobic confines of an Oxford college, where students and academics live and work side by side, and a ruthless killer waits to strike again.

Of course, she got the killer, but there were so many leads to follow, so many apparent perpetrators. It's the story of every crime novel. And of course, a murdered sister, whose killer will no doubt come to light in subsequent stories. At least there's a budding romance. The narrator was easy to listen to.

Complicated

A good story, well narrated, a plot that quick-stepped along, all tied up as a well written crime novel.

Wasn’t sure when I read the title if I would enjoy story. What a welcome relief after some of the more gruesome serial murder stories I have listened to. This book had just the right mix of mystery and personal life of the characters. I will read (listen to) more books by this author.
