Publisher's Summary

Lust. Ambition. Murder.

When a beautiful, wealthy student is found dead in her room in Oxford's most prestigious college, Detective Inspector Bridget Hart is called to investigate. The murdered girl appeared to have no enemies, yet was killed in a brutal and bloody assault.

Haunted and driven by her own personal tragedy, newly promoted DI Bridget Hart has a lot to prove as she leads her first murder case. Her investigation uncovers a tangled web of lies, lust and ambition, and brings her into conflict with powerful interests.

But no one can be above suspicion within the closed and claustrophobic confines of an Oxford college, where students and academics live and work side by side, and a ruthless killer waits to strike again.

Everything you could want

I really enjoyed this, my first time read of this author. I’ve already downloaded the next in the series. Excellent story & narration. Good pace to the story. Classic British detective drama. I am a fan of Vera and was looking for something similar. Well written so you feel you know the area and are invested in the characters.

An intrigueing murder mystery

Most murder mysteries, one can guess the motive and the murderer by the clues left earlier in the novel. MS Morris weaves a web of intrigue where DI Hart shines through many false leads to reveal the truth. A captivating eloquently spoken audiobook where character voices are clearly indentified very easily by Ester Wane.

Enjoyable!

I enjoyed both the author and the narrator. Not sure what the fuss is about. Well researched, clean, timeless mystery.

Worth your time and $

A good story, well narrated, a plot that quick-stepped along, all tied up as a well written crime novel.

Awful

I just couldn’t last this out. The narrators voice is simply awful thin and squashed. I actually like the story but the narrator has ruined it for me so I’ve sent it back. Shame

PG Rated

What a low key, wimpy, main character. No confrontations - no matter what unfair position she is faced with. The only backbone she shows is in the confrontations played out in her own head.
I decided to give it one more go and listen to the second book to see if things improved and it was just torture.

I just gave up after the big confrontation she had with her horrid ex-husband where she said " Was that really necessary " End of confrontation. All said in the very proper English twin set and pearls voice of the narrator.

Dear oh dear such a shame I can't give them back.
