Publisher's Summary

I've lost my mind and my mate once.... Can I risk it again?

Three years ago, I tried to do the impossible, defying my leaders and facing off with a dark mage in the hope of saving Tam and his fellow dragons. It ended with me barely alive, and it took me a year to recover. There was a spark between Tam and I, the promise of a mating bond, but that was ripped from us along with the rest of the tragedy.

But now Tam's brother is dead, and his nephew missing.

I can't do it again, not when I've seen the true depths of dark power. But when Tam comes to me, I know I'm his only hope. He has no right to ask me, but even after all these years, he still owns a piece of my heart. I can't say no.

But now that I've been burned, I know just how badly this can go. And if I fail, I won't just lose my mate. This mage has to be defeated...or the whole world may suffer.

Needed Help, But Good

This is the first book in The Dragon Magic Series. What a wonderful book the writing was good. I needed more world building and character history however. The plot was entertaining, and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters charming. Vance and Tam are the MC’s of this book. I have to say that this narrator wasn’t for me. He wasn’t clear all the time and he spoke as if he were in a hurry which at times made it difficult to understand. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

I hated interruptions!

I just hated whenever someone or something interrupted my listening of this book! This book had everything! Magic, dragons and lost love. So much action and adventure. I loved every second. I need the next book like I need my next breath.

In the middle of story line?

I liked the book and the narrator was okay. But I felt like I was placed in the middle of a story line and I had to backpaddle and see where I missed a book or two. The thought never even crossed me that this was book 1. But eventually things got a little less muddy and I was able to follow the story line.

A rough start for me

As much as I love Aiden Bates's audiobooks, this was difficult for me. I kept thinking I had started the wrong book. I just felt as though I was missing so much background information when the story began and I was lost. Then more characters were introduced and it was really difficult for me to ever fully get into the story after such a rough start.

Great !

This was a good second chance romance. Vance and Tam were interesting characters, I feel more could have been said in maybe a prologue but either way it was a good story. Vance had lost his memory of Tam. But Tam never forgot about him even if he could never see him again. But when Tam's nephew is taken he needs Vance to help him. It opens a whole can of worms to say. Good read , very exciting and interesting.

Was Good...

A little bit more of a back story needed at the beginning, to help you along but other wise it was a good story.
Zachary Zaba did a great job

Mixed Feelings

So I have some mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand I was really intrigued with the overall story line and the take on the paranormal world. That being said the whole romance of it and the characters I had a hard time connecting to because while Zaba has a really soothing and mellow voice I didn't get much emotion from it, Maybe because of the dragons and they are often presented that way I'm not sure but it was hard for me to stay focused on it.

Good listen.

This is a good listen and an interesting story. Now it the beginning of Tam and Vance's story I was a little bit lost just because I feel like there should have been more. However I still like this second chance story and was so happy for these two. Zachary Zaba does a great job with this narration.

great continuation

This story is an interesting continuation of the series. Bates and Haven write a fun, exciting and spicy story! The narration is crisp clear and full of life! Zaba brings personality and his own something special to the story! Definitely worth a read, but I would read the others in the series, they are both necessary and worth the read too!

So good!!

I enjoyed a lot this first book in the series, with its interesting plot, amazing magical adventures, an a second chance love story, full of romance and hot scenes. Of course, a good narration, a very nice voice and great characterization, are the perfect complement to make this story even better. Wonderful reading!

Magical Fantasy

I really enjoyed this audiobook of Ashes of Memory. Tam and Vince's story, what they went through, and their separation was heart-breaking, and Vince wasn't even allowed to remember what he lost! I loved the idea of recovering his memories by walking through them guided by Tam. There wasn't much detail on how that worked, but it sounded sweet and even a bit romantic, as they revisited their first meeting and getting to know each other all over again.

I loved the voices of Tam, Vince, and Mikhail. The narration was smooth and even. One thing marred the delivery and that was several instances where a sentence was repeated or an error corrected and not edited out. That pulled me out of the story a bit.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Ashes Of Memory(Dragon Magic Book 1)by Jill Haven and Aiden Bates. I liked the story.
The Narrator Zachary Zaba did a good job bringing these characters and story to life.
