Story
At the age of 9, Romesh Ranganathan delivered his first ever stand-up set at a Pontin's Holiday Camp talent competition, smashing the only other competitor, a young girl playing the kazoo. The gig went so well that Romesh retired his comic genius for 22 years, hiding behind the guise of a maths teacher, before finally revealing himself again (no, not like that) at the tender age of 31. In 2010, Ranganathan staged his epic comeback gig to an almost silent room, and has since gone on to earn his place as the most in-demand overweight vegan Sri Lankan comedian in Britain.

Story
No Shame is a very funny, candid and emotional ride of a memoir by one of our most beloved comedians. The working-class son of a coach driver and the youngest member of the Noel Coward Society, Tom Allen grew up in '90s suburbia as the eternal outsider. In these hilarious, honest and heart-breaking stories Tom recalls observations on childhood, his adolescence, the family he still lives with and his attempts to come out and negotiate the gay dating scene. They are written with his trademark caustic wit and warmth, and will entertain, surprise and move you in equal measure.

'Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London, where I was living, to where I sometimes work - at the BBC, in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way'.

Story
At last, the definitive audiobook about perhaps the best cabin crew dramedy ever filmed: View from the Top starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In Ayoade on Top, Richard Ayoade, perhaps one of the most 'insubstantial' people of our age, takes us on a journey from Peckham to Paris by way of Nevada and other places we don't care about. It's a journey deep within, in a way that's respectful and non-invasive; a journey for which we will all pay a heavy price, even if you've waited for the smaller paperback edition. Ayoade argues for the canonisation of this brutal masterpiece.

Story
In Alan Partridge: Nomad, Alan dons his boots, windcheater and scarf and embarks on an odyssey through a place he once knew - it's called Britain - intent on completing a journey of immense personal significance. Diarising his ramble in the form of a 'journey journal', Alan details the people and places he encounters, ruminates on matters large and small and, on a final leg fraught with danger, becomes not a man (because he was one to start off with) but a better, more inspiring example of a man.

Why is every film or tv programme a sequel or a remake? Why are people so f***ing hung up about swearing? Why do the asterisks in that sentence make it okay? Dismissed by a bored author at a book signing, a betrayed young man named David Sedaris made a vow. Someday, when it was his turn at the table, he’d connect with his readers. The experience has been even more revealing than he’d hoped. In this hilarious and perceptive essay, the celebrated humorist reflects on the unusual patterns of forced socialization between author and audience, and the obligations and sometimes surprising returns of not-so-chance encounters with strangers: jokes, secrets, insights, and even charity.

Brilliant Brilliance
- By Anonymous User on 01-01-2021
Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Confronted by the realities of adulthood, Romesh Ranganathan must face an uncomfortable truth: this is not quite how he imagined it.
Watching his friends descend into middle age, his waistline thicken and his finances dwindle to fund his family’s middle class aspirations, Romesh reflects on the demands of daily life and the challenges of adulting in the modern world.
As he reluctantly concludes that he is indeed a grown man, Rom wrestles with the greater questions that threaten his being: could I save my family in a crisis? Do I possess the skills to assemble flatpack furniture? Am I too old for streetwear? Is it alright to parent my kids through the medium of Fortnite? Is celibacy the secret to a passionate marriage?
From one of the country's most beloved comedians and author of the Sunday Times best seller Straight Outta Crawley comes the hilarious and painfully accurate dissection of what it really means to grow up.

Absolutely loved it. I loved his first audiobook, loved this one. Not only was it entertaining but it was also insightful, honest and touched on subjects such as friendships, socialising and mental health in a way I think about them as well. I really hope he does a third and was delighted when he announced this one was coming out.

As Average As It Gets
Romesh is usually a humorous joy to listen to but this book is generally meh compared to Straight Outta Crawley. The stories told in this one are good but the chapters are too brief that none of them have any proper substance. Unfortunately like many modern British comedians who write books and narrate audiobooks-Romesh has many similar mainstream interests that are unsurprising and repetitive-although that's more an inherent problem with British culture than anything else. I want to know more about his videogame and film preferences because he only mildly touches on these subjects among just about everything else in the book. Also there are knitpicky complaints to make like this belief that there is a "human nature", which is a common misconception because human behaviour is attained not ascribed, and also that laziness is a fallacy because incentive is the antidote to it-yes these knitpicks are unfair and probably dumb and stupid-but hey I want to hear an original voice with new things to say-and yet in this book Romesh's ramblings can be done by just about anybody and it's only because he's a widely known mainstream comedian that he'll get plenty of attention for it.

My utter disappoint is imesreable!
As I sit here in my comfy leather rocking chair writing this review, I feel utter disappointment and regret I ever step foot into the world of audio books. All audio books are a compete mockery and Un truth of its unworthy and desciving title and description. I feel a great shame upon Sir Ranganathan as he had the audacity, the ignorance to produce such dier content that people would spend their hard earnt money (which I have plenty may I inform you) on, only to be mislead and baited into purchasing pure drivel, Completely unaware that the content inside of the audio book of Sir Ranganathan, is totally irrelevant to its desciving title. I purchased this book thinking I would be learning how to make a Sri Lankan curry, a DELACACY, if you will. But no, instead, Sir Ranganathan here decided to lecture me about his ever dying relationship with both his wife and spouse. In conclusion, 😂😂😩😩😍🤣🤣😭😭😉😉😚😚😣😣😥😥🤑🥵🤧🤧🤮🤮🤢🤢💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👌👌👌👌👌👌
