Publisher's Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl: The Artic Incident, read by the actor Gerry O’Brien.

Someone has been supplying Class-A illegal human power sources to the goblins. Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit is sure that her archenemy, 13-year-old Artemis Fowl, is responsible.

But is he? Artemis has his own problems to deal with: his father is being held to ransom and only a miracle will save him. Maybe this time a brilliant plan just won’t be enough. Maybe this time Artemis needs help....

Great novel and audio

Really enjoyed the audio on this one, great narration. My only gripe with the story is that Eoin Colfer reuses a lot of the same figures of speech to describe certain aspects of the story. Otherwise, a great Artemis Fowl adventure.

Good story. Ok reader.

It was a good story but more character voices could have been used. Overall 4 stars.

just as entertaining as the first one.

Eoin Colfer's humour keeps you chuckling all the way through, brought to life appropriately by the gentle Irish accent of Gerry O'Brien.
Sets me up with an appetite for the next to continue the saga of our dear young Artemis.

Entertaining and action-packed adventure

Brilliant concept with the technology savvy fairies and a young prodigy with criminal tendencies. Action from the get-go interlaced with wry remarks makes it a rather entertaining "read".

Excellent book for young and old, really gripping

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to anyone with kids from 7 up, the story is well crafted and it is read brilliantly.

What other book might you compare Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident to, and why?

All the Artemis Fowl books so far have been excellent.

Frantic paced action adventure

My two boys (aged 8 and 10) were on the edges of their seats with this one. The beauty of the Artemis Fowl books is that they are not obviously written for children, so the language and concepts feel adult.

Artemis explains "difficult" concepts to "stupid" adults in small words because he is, after all, a boy genius. This rather helps any confused 8 year olds in the back of the car keep up. The fact that there seems to be rather too many stupid adults in it is a small gripe. In fact the most intelligent people seem to be the fairies, but I suppose that's the whole point.

Personally I love all the cliff hangers ... you can almost hear the cinematic BA BA BAAA music as the action plays out. We have indeed sat in the car for a few minutes more, just to get to a suitable cliff hanger in order to turn it off before school. You never have to wait long.
