Publisher's Summary
The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved cult classic about family, friendship and first love, from award-winning author Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This lyrical novel will enrapture fans of John Green, Love, Simon and Call Me by Your Name.
A love story like no other.
In Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, two boys fell in love. Now they must discover what it means to stay in love and build a relationship in a world that seems to challenge their very existence.
Ari has spent all of high school hiding who he really is, staying silent and invisible. He expected his senior year to be the same. But something in him cracked open when he fell in love with Dante, and he can’t go back. Suddenly, he finds himself reaching out to new friends, standing up to bullies and making his voice heard. And, always, there is Dante - dreamy, witty Dante - who can get on Ari’s nerves and fill him with desire all at once.
The boys are determined to forge a path for themselves in a world that doesn’t understand them. But when Ari is faced with a shocking loss, he’ll have to fight like never before to create a life that is truthfully, joyfully his own.

LOVED EVERY MINUTE
Of the two books I think I preferred the first one “ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE” however I still really enjoyed the sequel. I binge listened to both books and was really quite sad that there isn’t a third or fourth book.
Highly recommend and guaranteed to shed a tear.

beautiful, in every sense of the word
over and over this book broke my heart and stitched it back together with so much beauty and love. his writing is poetry, and the story and the characters within broke the words "beautiful" and "love" and built them anew.
I think, just maybe, all the secrets of the universe might just be found between the pages of this book.
it will forever be in my heart.

A worthy sequel
I loved the first book in this series and found this to be a great sequel. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s narration perfectly captured the subtle differences of each character and I didn’t want to stop listening. The plot took a little longer to become clear but there were still lots of sweet and (at times) some emotional moments. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoyed the first book!

the first boos was obviously better. I did not want them to break up, even though that was a realistic take. I did not expected it because everything fwlt too good too be truth sort of book. some times it felt too cheesy. this book will a one time read, unlike the first one. maybe a third might come, but I doubt it.

Disappointment
2022 52 Book Challenge - 21) Published by Simon & Schuster
This book would have been perfectly fine if Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets to the Universe didn't exist, because this is a pale imitation of that.
Book 1 was amazing and thought provoking and tear worthy, but this book, I was so bored listening to it that I had to have breaks.
It didn't really feel like Dante was in this book all that much and as a result it felt like it revolved around Ari. Because of this, it felt like he was suffered from a little bit of Main Character Syndrome. For example, one of the new characters Cassandra opens up about something that was deeply personal to her and Ari makes it revolve around him and his issues and she just let's him. This continues through the entire book.
A major event happens within Ari's family later in the novel and aside from a couple sentences addressing it occassionally, the family just feel flat and unemotional about it and move on in what felt like one chapter.
The language didn't really feel right in this book. The teenagers really didn't sound like teenagers, or at least, like any teenagers I've ever met, and nearly every conversation turned into a monologue of profound drivel that feels entirely forced, unrealistic and out of place.
I just found this book to be a disappointment.

I hoped this was about the relationship of Dante and Ari but it is the same as book 1. Lots of side characters, lots of nice family scenes, and sometimes the boys meet and express their affection. In short: boring.

Exceptional, rare and beautiful
The young people who read this book have been given a gift so beautiful and wise that I am unreasonably green with envy. Treasure the words, let them infuse your life and help you navigate that strange and challenging world of love. This is so much more than a guide however. First and foremost It is about humanity and as such it is relevant to all - young or old, gay, straight or somewhere in between, the self-assured or the vulnerable. This book has something important to say to you all. Read it, wonder at its wisdom and be grateful.

Brilliant sequel and narration again..
All the stars for this one, absolutely outstanding!! Yet again, as with Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, the narration by Lin-Manuel Miranda was stunning, and ought to win a shedload of awards. I tried to listen as slowly as I possibly could...I really did, but sometimes this story just carries you away. I thought Ari did a lot of growing up in this one, however Dante didn't seem to mature that much at all 😕.
It was full of love, of feels and it has to be said, a lot of tears on my part. AIDS naturally plays a huge part in the storyline, as does being brave enough to finally accept and 'own' who you are and come out to your friends...and Ari gathers some great friends into his own 'family'. Yes, we still have Dante, Soledad and Sam Quintana [and their new little arrival], but Suzy, Gina and a new friend Cassandra, were all connected by what happens in the story and were there for Ari when Dante sometimes wasn't. There were some very sad moments, some wonderfully uplifting moments and some serious social commentary from the Author too, making a point of mentioning the way that some [but not all obviously] white Americans were fantastically racist in the way they treated not just people from Mexico, but also black, gay and other minorities during the time period covered by the story. Has anything really changed in the years since then? Sadly, I think not 😒. Quoting the story 'We're a country of immigrants that hates immigrants'.
I have to say that based on my reading/listening of the story, there does not need to be a book 3, but I would also be extremely happy if there were. I love these two boys and the world they live in to bits!!
