Delightful listen
Quite possibly the best book I’ve listened to. I loved the story, loved the twists, turns, tales of last century that feel so relevant today. Brilliant.

A story of its time
Through the eyes of the main character the reader is taken on a history lesson of sorts. It is an insight into an author and his journey through life, decade after decade. The journey while rooted in his English origins takes us to many countries and to many people that made up the writing world of the last century. It is also a story that gives an insight into his world that includes, what he describes as something more than a roller coaster ride - more of a yo-yo. It is well worth listening to and narrated well. I recommended it.

Brilliant
One of William Boyd’s finest novels.
The story is captivating and like a wild ride with so many unexpected twist and turns - I couldn’t stop listening to it!

One of the all time great novels. This is true literature!
Just gets better and better. So wish all books could be like this. It’s a long time since I’ve enjoyed a book so much
