Publisher's Summary
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert of Green Gables had no intention of adopting the talkative, mischievous, red-headed girl the orphanage in Nova Scotia sent by mistake. What they wanted was a sturdy, sensible boy to help with the chores. Instead, they got 11-year-old Anne Shirley, whose capacity for adventure was only matched by her bright spirit and love of life. Still, there was something about the little girl that gave them second thoughts. She was keen of wit with a scintillating effervescence that was purely captivating. Just perhaps....

Good story, bad production
Great classic story and the reader did a fantastic job. But and this is a BIG drawback - the sound quality was terrible! It squeaked, and you can actually hear voices in the background!!

Adore!
I love love love Laurie Klein's narration of Anne of Green Gables. Her voice draws you into the story. And her ability to alter her accent for each character is amazing. I simply fell in love with every character.

Great Book - not so great reading.
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes - it is one of the best youth books in the world.
What didn’t you like about Laurie Klein’s performance?
I thought she started out well but after a few chapters she seemed over-exaggerated and not true to character. Her voice was a little grating and the acting was bad.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes.

Great narration
I particularly enjoyed the narration done by Ms. Klein. It reminded me of the famous DVDs I watched growing up and she narrated it with as much emotion and personality as I imagined reading the books.

How did I miss this book?
I don't know how I missed this book as a child, but somehow I did. The good news is that I'm enjoying it now and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to read or listen to the rest of the series.

Enjoy
I would recommend this version to everyone. The narrator was excellent and very expressive. The best part of the book that was well read was when, Anne, lost her temper with Mrs. Lynde.

Help
I don’t like this version and would like to choose a different version of the same book, how do I do that? I’ve only listened to 37 minutes of a 10 hour + book. It’s my first free of the month. Thanks

Always My Favourite Childhood Book
I knew I loved this book (and all the Anne books) so the question was would I like it read to me? I did! The story is the same gentle unfolding tale that I first read when I was about 10 years old and read again so often I also memorised some of the passages along the way.
There is a choice of reader I think, there being several narrators on offer for the same books. I randomly chose this one, Laurie Klein and I like her voice. It's not the voice I had 'in my head' but it didn't get in the way or spoil it for me.
Very enjoyable, innocent and gentle, a great way to spend a few hours.
