About this listen

Five years have passed since the orphan girl Anne Shirley came to live in the childless home of Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. She has returned to Avonlea to teach in the same village school where she herself was taught. Her earlier friends, Diana Barry, Jane Andrews, Priscilla Gray, and Gilbert Blyth, have also become teachers at neighboring village schools.

A mysterious new neighbor and his parrot named Ginger are now added to the original cast of characters. And there are the mischievious but darling Keith twins, Davy and Dora, whom Marilla has adopted.

Critic Reviews

"With a brisk pace and pleasant, natural style, O'Malley's voice makes a good match for Anne's sweet-natured temperament and higher energy....O'Malley gives the many narrative passages, and Anne's parts, a lively quality, while setting an overall tone of nostalgia to match the story." (AudioFile)

Terribly narrated! After listening to Rachel McAdams narrating AOGG, this was like listening to a robot. Please find a better narrator as this beautiful piece of writing deserves it.

Wonderfully written

I love this story and revisiting the story. The narration is jerky and doesn’t flow nicely and occasionally the digital volume changes strangely.

Love Anne

Sadly the narrator reads the novel in a blocky weird way that ruins the fluidity. I listened to the Rachel McAdams version of the first novel but sadly she didn’t do anymore. This one and the rest with this narrator are free for now but I’d rather use a credit for a better narrator for the rest of the novels.

The narrator isn’t very good

I'm not an expert but the narrator speaks with such a droll tone and it lacks the vibrancy required for any book about Anne. It's even worse when Anne is speaking - some of the emphasises were very strange and ill fitting. Flat and unimaginative and it ruins the experience.

Disappointing narration

It was very difficult to get you head around the narration, the first 3 hours especially is so disjointed, and poorly read. The pauses where there shouldn’t be and reading style was very jarring and difficult to listen to.

The story it’s self was great though.

Great book, bad narration
