Publisher's Summary

"A relationship is a question asked over and over again across a lifetime.... Will the animal in you, bite the animal in me?"

Zoe and her boyfriend Mike head to Yosemite for a week-long horse tour of the backcountry, but get more than they bargained for when a serial killer stalks their party through the woods. The killer's connection to Mike's past makes Zoe question the heart of the man she's fallen in love with. As the mystery unravels, Zoe is forced to confront not just the darkness within others, but the animal within herself.

In this fast-paced, romantic thriller, listeners are asked to sharpen their fangs and venture through the wilderness within...because not all animals live in the forest.

Thriller with depth

Thriller with depth. It made me think about relationships and what we ask for from another person. This is a survival type thriller and it kept me involved, wanting to see what would happen. Really loved the characters!

Just okay. Definitely not about werewolves.

Eh.... this book didn't really work for me unfortunately. The basic story was good, but all of the stuff about the inner wolf and inner ogre got old quickly. I thought this was going to be some sort of werewolf story but it was not, the animals were just an extended metaphor that went over my head.

I received an Audible audio copy for review and the narrator was good, clear and easy to understand. The pacing sometimes felt a bit off but my attention wandered a bit at times so I think it wasn't the fault of the narration so much as the story just lost me.

Good

The narrator was easy to listen to but the story was predictable. I would recommend it for anyone who likes thrillers, even if you can predict the ending.

Enthralling Story! Action, adventure, and mystery

A great story that kept me guessing the entire time! Lots of action and adventure. Mystery that kept me wondering who the killer is. The writing kept me involved, and the narration really brought the story to life. Can’t wait to listen to the sequel!
