But, as Rachel writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain - you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Very good!
It explains amazingly the different kind of affairs. Why people cheat and the link between family or origin and infidelity. it also gives tips to avoid the affair. Sadly, you do not read it until you already have a BROKEN HEART.

Hard to relate, as a non-evangelical
The premise makes some sense from a pathological perspective but it gets lost in religious propaganda, seemingly intensifying as the book progresses. I’m not necessarily looking for encouragement to put my problems in God’s hands (or blame the devil instead of taking personal responsibility)! The hypocrisy of the perpetrators’ stories was distracting and ultimately detracting. The written exercises and lists definitely do not translate into audio.

A Christian approach to infidelity
This book is far too conservative for me. Having a friend of the opposite sex is called a "close call" . In my opinion, the whole subject is mainly based on fear, guilt and shame. On the other hand, in one chapter there are some exercises to reconnect with the spouse, that some may find useful.

My thoughts
I did like some of the valuable information based on experiences of individual and couples through a betrayal and affair. I found no space for same sex relationships but could put it into context for myself. Am not a faithful Christian but a believer and looked to this book as a resource of information for note taking and consideration of my place in this as person directly affected by an affair left to sift through my own experiences, information and perspective of where I feel comfortable in the process of moving forward, together or individually.

This book is the first book that I have ever read that discussed the emotional and addictive parts of an affair. I found David Carter’s ideas extremely enlightening. This book, if followed, could save someone a lot of grief.

Easy to follow and really insightful
I really enjoyed this book. Has multiple examples so very relatable. It also helps that the writer has vast knowledge on the subject, and breaks it down in bite sizes. I would definitely recommend it to married as well as single or dating people. Truly life changing.
