About this listen

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos.

And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

Which is why he's extremely reluctant to lease out his shop as a set for Blake's film, but it's his one opportunity to save his business. Now he can't get away from the distractingly hot actor.

Then Aubrey finds himself alone with Blake in a trailer, and what happens next turns London's heat wave into an inferno that leaves him breathless.

Aubrey is not cut out for the high-profile life of dating a celebrity, especially an American actor who's not even out yet. Good thing their tryst is absolutely not going anywhere.

Of course, when you expect nothing, that's exactly when it starts to mean everything.

Contains mature themes.

Uptight Aubrey Barnes has inherited his parents’ Soho bookshop in London and it isn’t going well. A film crew is disrupting business and one of the American actors is disrupting Aubrey. Blake Sinclair seems too good to be true He’s gorgeous, charming, and warm, and Aubrey can’t believe Blake is attracted to him. With the bookshop on the edge of bankruptcy, being paid as a film location is a lifeline but this just puts more stress on Aubrey who is still dealing with mixed feelings about his ex-boyfriend that threaten to cripple his new relationship with Blake, who has his own secrets.

I really did enjoy this fairytale feel-good romance, I liked the tetchy Aubrey and I thought Blake’s calm, practical manner was good for him. There were good levels of steam and enough subplots to keep things interesting. I felt like the ‘big disagreement’ was actually a valid thing to argue over, although I thought Blake’s issue didn’t really get solved, he just seemed to get over it. It was a low-angst, gentle romance and I’ll definitely chase up the next book. 🎧 British voice actor Gary Furlong is always superb, I love his tone, his expression, and his accent—great job!

Charming British / American bookstore romance!

Such a cute read. A London bookshop is the perfect setting! Loved the Notting hill re-telling storyline. Clever and sweet with enough drama and unknowns throughout. The narrator was new to me and I he did a great job between two accents and distinctive voices for side characters too.

Cute!

Very enjoyable story with definite gay “Notting Hill” vibes. Good fleshed out characters with distinctive personalities. Narrator did an excellent job which really does make or break these audiobooks. The author has another book in the series with a different narrator and I can’t bear to listen to it.

Funny, hot and well narrated
