Publisher's Summary

The legend of Tal Harrenfel has a new, dark chapter to its legacy, and its hero quests alone into the East.

Though Tal intends to end Yuldor's war himself, Garin and their companions follow closely on his heels. Elendol is in ashes, and its queen has been replaced by one sympathetic to the East. Fleeing the destruction left in his wake, Tal leaves behind all those he loves in an attempt to save them from further harm. His aim is simple: Find Yuldor and claim the Worldheart from him, no matter the cost.

But Garin and the others won't let Tal sacrifice himself so easily. Setting off in pursuit, they intend to offer what help they can. However, not all the company's aims are the same. The East is fraught with imposing challenges, formidable monsters, and dubious allies. And survival is only the beginning, for its Emperor has a scheme in mind that may throw the World off its axis....

Mostly enjoyable story

...Just want to beat some sense into the main characters a time or two 😉

binge read books 1 to 3

I found the story/ies quietly called me back to hear the next phase in the characters lives. the story line was intriguing enough to capture my attention and reserved sufficiently that I was happy to set it down without feeling bereft for the loss if listening yet I was drawn along that I wanted to know more to the point if listening to all three books in a row and am looking forward to book 4.

Found it hard to get through this story

sadly, this third book was a disappointment . The story became laughable in some places with the hero being constantly captured and tortured.

Thought it might get better.

I got books 1&2 for free. The story was standardized Retired hero, young boy, a girl and assorted others. As a group they are useless they deserve to die. I thought book three might be better so I paid for it. BIG mistake. Nothing has changed they get beaten up by everyone, get horrific injuries and then get saved and hay-presto they are off again. I fell asleep for about an hour and didn't even notice a gap in the story.
So glad book 4 isn't available so I can even be tempted.
Narration was good, he did the best he could with a repetitive story.
