Dr. Sophia Ononye-Onyia
What do you do with knowledge once you have collected it?
In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sophia Ononye-Onyia, Founder and CEO of The Sophia Consulting Firm, launched the Amplifying Scientific Innovation® Video Podcast on YouTube from her New York apartment to make science, innovation, and entrepreneurship more accessible through conversation.
What began as a digital storytelling platform featuring scientists, physicians, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and innovators grew into something far bigger than she imagined.
Six years later, in Orange County, California, Amplifying Scientific Innovation® evolved into a paid apprenticeship program and workforce development model expanding access to knowledge, digital storytelling skills, learning pathways, and opportunity.
In Amplifying Scientific Innovation: From Podcast to Apprenticeship, Dr. Ononye-Onyia shares lessons from a career spanning cancer research, consulting, entrepreneurship, higher education, digital media, corporate communications, strategy consulting, podcasting, and apprenticeship development. Drawing from a National Science Foundation-funded cancer research internship and postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine, she explores five questions: Why am I doing this? What inspires me? Am I still open to learning? Who are my people? How do I rejuvenate?
Part memoir, part leadership reflection, and part innovation playbook, this book offers an honest look at what happens when purpose meets persistence and knowledge collected through conversation becomes a pathway for others.
Whether you are a student, scientist, entrepreneur, educator, consultant, or aspiring innovator, this book will encourage you to remain curious, build meaningful relationships, and keep moving forward when the path ahead is uncertain.
Because innovation is not a destination.
It is a lifelong journey.
