A mind-bending dramatic production based on the short stories of N. K. Jemisin, the 21st century’s most-honored writer of speculative fiction.
A barely employed tech worker has never felt they belonged. Not in society, not even in their own family. Their days are filled with loneliness, a struggle to survive and a desperate search for connection—even if that connection is merely virtual.
Now, a black-market hacker promises to open a new world for them, and it works—in ways no human has ever experienced.
They find a world of wonder, of possibilities and of danger—where their new virtual reality could mean the end of their physical reality. And what they discover could change the fate of humankind—forever.
Amorph is based on N. K. Jemisin’s short stories “The Trojan Girl” and “Valedictorian,” which were adapted for this Audible Original by Chené Lawson.

The story is "cool" nonsense that seems to be written by someone who has maybe read a story about virtual reality or cyberspace and not really understood it very well. Concepts are all over the place and generally inconsistent and incoherent. Once the identity and diversity cards were played for no apparent reason, I'm afraid that was it for me. The protagonist's gender identity and racial background make no difference to anything. The reader doesn't need to know them. Just leave them out!
Writing quality is moderately good for KU, but contains some typical self-publishing errors, such as the author not knowing the difference between lie and lay. An editing pass would help.
The audiobook production is excellent. Multiple well-spoken narrators do their best with the nonsense prose and ridiculous melodramatic dialogue, and the production makes excellent use of sound effects and music. It's just a shame the source material is so rubbish!
Very well produced nonsense
