Dane and Bones Orgins!
Amber was a fast paced story that weaves action, suspense, and some real elements of history into an dangerous adventure. I really liked the story had elements of truth because it made the story believable. After I finished the book, I actually researched the Amber Room to learn more about it.
I've listened to several audiobooks narrated by Jeffrey Kafer, and as always, he did a great job!
Anyone who loves a good mystery mixed with elements of truth, will definitely want to consider listening to these series.

Near-Perfect Adventure Fiction
David Wood and Rick Chesler team up to write another Dane and Bones adventure. This one takes us to unexpected areas in search of a lost room of amber said to have been lost forever. Along the way, they will face off against Russians who are searching for other artifacts related to the Amber Room.
The narration of Amber was done by Jeffrey Kafer. What can I say here that I haven’t said in other reviews? Jeffrey Kafer is a master. He has perfected his craft and is absolutely perfect for this novel.
Amber was a non-stop adventure book with little to no time to breathe. Wood & Chesler really had their feet on the gas for this book — tidying it into under 6 hours for the audiobook. I promise you, you will not feel gipped with the length of the book. There is so much going on here it took me a day to wrap my head around it.
I’ve read one of the Dane & Bones books (and reviewed it recently). My first thoughts upon finishing it were where can I get more? Well, I found more (I’d already had this in my backlog and had forgotten about it). Well, after finishing this, I still thought the exact same thing. I need to start reading the Dane & Bones books in order now!
Wood & Chesler really took a premise that could be real and added a ton of stuff into it that made it feel like non-fiction. The stories and history around each event and each area they research had a realism that you can’t fake (or isn’t easy to fake).
Also, giant freaking wolves… terrifying. I won’t go into it for fear of spoiling anything. But, wow.
Overall, Amber was another fun and fast-paced adventure book in the Dane & Bones world. I will definitely be looking for more books in this series.

Wolves, Russians and Germans oh my!
I just love a great treasure hunt story. This one does not disappoint. This could be read as a stand alone story, which I read it as but there were times that I felt a little left out as things were incorporated from previous books in the series. This did not distract me from the story but I can imagine added to the reader's understanding. The authors do a fabulous job of describing the Europen landscapes and the nature of the heroes journey. The authors do a great job of including relics and information from the past. I personally love stories that have a bit of true events embedded into them. The narration was very well done and I have to say that I love anything done by Kafer. The voices, tempo and tone were well done and definitely bring the story to another level. Great job and I really enjoyed the hints and clues hidden throughout the story that our heroes figured out in order to find the treasure. My only complaint is that it should have been longer because it was such a great story. Dangerous search to find the Amber room
Would you listen to Amber: A Dane and Bones Origins Story again? Why?
Yes. There is always a great deal of details to the story. And I know I'd pick up more with listening to the story again. There are a few moments I wasn't 100% sure how the characters knew where to go. But, they are getting information from an Admiral and you don't question your superiors. They did find a journal that helps back the information too. Even as this is a shorter read/listen, it's packed full of details of the mission and action.
What did you like best about this story?
From the beginning we see how Maddock, Bones, Professor, and Willis work as a team back when they were SEAL's in training. It's fun to listen to these men banter back and forth. They are a great pairing of friends and have great quick comments for each other, such a youthful feel to them as SEAL's in training.
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jeffrey voices these men with ease. Jeffrey has been narrating this whole series and connected series's, from what I've listened to. With Jeffrey narrating and David and Rick's writing, I smile at the small quips from the four men working together. They have a quick sense of humor that keeps their situations light as they work through them, but also makes me smile and keep the story light. Jeffrey's voice brings this to life for me. I have grown fond of listening to Jeffrey. He's always clear and easy to listen to. There is no background disturbances or echos to his voice. Also there is no pops on letters as he speaks. Perfect recording and narration.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found I was thinking I'd enjoy traveling in person with these men on their adventures. Their personalities and humor are ones I'd enjoy. Plus the addition of possible dangers (okay with them, yes danger) they find themselves fighting out of, sounds exciting!
Any additional comments?

This is book 7, do I need to read in order? I don't think so. We are introduced to the characters at the beginning and see the bond between them all is strong. Then we go on with the adventure they find themselves on in this story, it's not a carry over from previous books, it's a new one. Sure there are drops of other missions together, but that just fuels the want to listen/read the previous books.
I do enjoy these characters and dangerous adventures. I will be looking for more of them!

Fascinating piece of history revealed
What I love about books like this is they introduce you to a REAL piece of history, a true life mystery that the author has delved into and solved in their own fashion. The Amber Room was real. It existed, it was truly stolen by the nazis. It's story was one I was not familiar with though I am now reading up on it. The story was well written the characters were easy to connect with. The narrator delivered and executed the tale well. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the piece of history that it brought to my attention. The Russ, the Germans, and Catherine the Great
Another great addition to the Dane and Bones series! Shorter than a Cussler, but every bit as riveting. Always full of action/adventure, good natured fun among the team, and an integration of history into current possibilities. See publisher's blurb for clues, no spoilers here except to remind that there is no gratuitous erotica.
Kafer gives his usual excellent performance with this one, no problem differentiating characters or their responses.

Resourceful SEALs
The Amber Room was stolen by the Nazi’s during WWII, everyone knows that. The mystery is where did it go after it was stolen and where is it now? Navy SEALs Dane and Bones are assigned to find out just that. Zara Leopov joins them along the way with a mission of her own. Together, the SEALs and Leopov battle the Russians to be the first to find and recover the famous Amber Room. But would it be better to never find it again?
I liked how the listen started with Danes and Bones in training. It gave you a feel for how smart, resourceful, and lethal they are together. They show all those qualities and more as they travel from place to place on orders to recover the Amber Room. There is much to like in this standalone, if somewhat short, listen. There is action and adventure along with sexual tension that was neither over or under done.
Jeffrey Kafer was an awesome narrator. He did as well with male and female voices and his Russian and German accents were good, too!
