Great

Amari’s big brother has been missing for months and whilst Amari has been going to school and her mum to work, Amari has not given up hope on finding her brother. On the last day school, Amari gets a message delivered, with an invitation to the Bureau of Supernatural Investigations. This is Amari’s best chance of finding her brother. But when it turns out she has illegal talent, Amari must do all she can to not only look for her brother but survive this summer school.

I enjoyed how, although Amari has a rough time both in her normal school and also at the Bureau she still keeps going and pushes herself to be better then what everyone thinks about her. I also loved her devotion to finding her brother, for not only her family but for the community that she lives in.

Unfortunately I did predict who the magician’s apprentice would be from about the half way mark, but this did not detract from the over all story and my enjoyment. I will definitely be picking up the next in the series, and see what Amari gets up to next.
