Summary

This audio edition is captivatingly read by a full cast of outstanding narrators.

From the internationally bestselling author of The Atlas Six, Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake is a glimpse into the nature of love, what it means to be unwell, and how to face the fractures of yourself and still love as if you're not broken.

Chicago, sometime. Two people meet in the armory of the Art Institute by chance. Prior to their encounter, he is a doctoral student who manages his destructive thoughts with compulsive calculations about time travel; she is a bipolar counterfeit artist undergoing court-ordered psychotherapy. After their meeting, those things do not change.

Everything else, however, is slightly different.

Both obsessive, eccentric personalities, Aldo Damiani and Charlotte Regan struggle to be without each other from the moment they meet. The truth - that he is a clinically depressed, anti-social theoretician and she is a manipulative liar with a history of self-sabotage - means the deeper they fall in love, the more troubling their reliance on each other becomes.

Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake is a literary, intimate study of time, space - and a love story like no other.

Critic Reviews

The pages fly by in this character-driven novel that is intimate, complicated, and utterly romantic (Booklist)
Far from your average love story . . . well worth the ride (Heat)
The narration is stunning . . . 100% recommend (Utopia State of Mind)
This is a book to savor (Publishers Weekly)
Lethally smart. Filled with a cast of brilliantly realized characters, each entangled with one another in torturously delicious ways, The Atlas Six will grip you by the throat and refuse to let go (Chloe Gong, author of These Violent Delights, on The Atlas Six)
As much a delicious contest of wit, will, and passion as it is of magic, this book is half mystery, half puzzle, and wholly a delight (Holly Black, author The Cruel Prince, on The Atlas Six)
Coolly horrific, brilliantly brainy and utterly compelling (Daily Mail on The Atlas Six)

Such a beautiful story of finding that someone to love every part of you and to really see you. I felt this book deeply and loved it

Loved it!

The abstract yet some how completely tangible inner dialogues, the stumbles, the beautiful quirks of a neurodivergent love story, this book will fill your cup and leave you with a smile on your face. I don’t have the words to articulate the love I have for this story or this writing style.

Absolutely breathtaking.

I was on the fence about whether to give this a fourth star or not. I felt it was slow in the beginning and struggled to keep engaged, but I feel this may have been partially due to the narration, which was, for me, a distraction. I had to re-read the first 2 chapters 3 times merely because it was not capturing me, and I kept putting it down as a result. But... it did pick up, and I feel it really came together in the end. In reflection, I wonder if the narration was symbolic of the noise in Charlotte's head. Regardless, I feel it could have done without it.

This book is a DNF for me.
The prose doesn't invoke imagery nor emotions. I enjoyed the format at the beginning but then it stopped and became disjointed.
I cannot relate or feel anything for the characters. I couldn't care less what happens to them.
The narrators did a good job but sadly it wasn't enough for me.
Wasted money on this one.

Misaligned
