♥️Loved the story! Awesome narrator!♥️
Alone in the Light by M.K. Williams is a fantastic story with a lot of substance and I enjoy being able to escape my reality and dive into the world of vampires, werewolves and other-worldly beings. There are so many characters that I kept forgetting who they were and which side they were on. To help myself, I started a list of characters just to keep it all straight. I hope the author has another book or two up their sleeve. I would be interested to hear more.
Narrator, Andrew McDermott did a wonderful job! He has a very soothing voice and I think his accent is perfect for this genre. I enjoyed hearing his versatility when it came to the Asian characters. Well done! I will admit that I ran this book at 1.25 speed just to pick it up a bit, though. It helped the 13+ hours go by faster but didn’t take away from his performance. 😉
Well worth a credit! I’m very much looking forward to book two!

Sucker for an Irish accent!!!
I love Irish accents and I grew up watching vampires on Buffy and Angel back in the day so mix this urban fantasy with an Irish narrator and I'm in love! The story made me think of twilight without the romance but with a bit more politics!. I got the idea that Kristian(the hero) was this brooding headstrong Alpha that struggled to take orders while at the same time trying to do what's right! I love flawed heroes. It feels more realistic when the hero has problems and struggles to make the right choice.
I often find that narrators can overact especially with regards to male narrators which comes across very chandler from friends(big turnoff) if that makes sense so thank goodness this wasn't like that. Never heard this narrator before but I will be making a point to put him on my to listen to list. Something about that accent and the deep voice!
Dark Urban fantasy - 5/5
A hot-headed hero - 5/5
Irish Narrator - 5/5
Three words - WORTH A CREDIT!

Vampire's , Warewolves, and Jackals!
Alone in the light is filled with Magic and Monsters. It is filled with lots of world and character building as is expected being the first book in the series. It was a joy listening to this fantasy audiobook as the journey of Kristian went on. From the epic battles with monsters till the end this book has me interested in the next book!
I was given this audiobook at my request and have left this voluntary review.

Surprisingly interesting
Firstly I've never been big on Urban fantasy but I don't turn down a code in exchange for an honest review.
The story revolves around Kristian and his struggle to basically stop the world from ending while coming to terms with his emotions. As far as YA Urban Fantasy goes I found the MC and most of the other characters were well enough fleshed out including Johnathon the Director of the good guys who shows his humanity. The baddies for lack of a better word were fit for purpose but a little more fleshing out wouldn't hurt.
Secondly the narration
Although I usually associate an Irish accent with old or medieval fantasy I found it fitted in well with the story and gave it a nice charm. I have listened to a few of Andrew's books and find that his accent is suitable for fantasy or romance but I wouldn't fit it in with other genres. I was skeptical that it would suit as an Urban fantasy generally has a more modern feel but to be honest with vampires and phoenixes et all the accent was spot on.
If I could I would give it 4.5 Stars Overall as the baddies could have done with a bit of fleshing out and although the accent was fine I would still prefer an English or American accent but that's just my preference.

Not bad
Interesting story and nice narrator. Felt it needed a little more depth in places but all in all, I enjoyed the listen. The narrator's voice was soothing but a bit more inflection would knock it up to five stars.

Well rounded novel with something for eberyone
The story was well rounded and had a lot going for it. The characters were detailed and comprehensive. I liked how the world felt contemporary, but also had pieces that made it unique and different from our world. This is a great story! Lots of characters, lots of story. I did struggle a bit with the narration. Loved the accent, but needed a bit more passion.
I really like the world this author created. I am looking forward to reading more from this world. The characters are captivating, and I love how the good guys band together against the forces of evil.

good ideas
I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this audiobook. I enjoyed the concept but didn't quite get sucked into the action for some reason, a bit hard connecting with the characters. I like the attempt at a "science" behind what's going on. I'm likely to give the next book in the series a go to see if it's one of those great series with a slow-ish start.

Interesting
Alone in the Light is a story involving the paranormal. It is told entirely in third person and from multiple points of views. The story is interesting but there are passages that are quite slow. Excellent Story, Great Narration
I really enjoyed the audiobook Alone in the Night, the first book in The Phoenix Chronicles series.
The book is a gripping fantasy thriller with a struggle between the Light and Dark and contains wizards, vampires, werewolves, demons, gods, and magical artefacts. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
Andrew McDermott did a great job with the narration. Apart from loving his Irish accent, his measured pace made an intricate storyline easily understandable and the variety of voices he produced for different characters made them clearly identifiable.

Fans of Harry Potter will lap this up
Alone in the Light is the first instalment of The Phoenix Chronicles series and was my first introduction to the author. From the offset, the action and pace is relentless and I found myself totally immersed in the premise of the story.
The strength of the book lies in the exceptional world building that the author has created which effortlessly brings the characters and plot to life. We have twelve supernatural entities (phoenixes) who protect and defend the universe through their human hosts. With the help of these human hosts, The Order Of Light, (comprising of wizards and scholars) work together with the Council of Tivernal (non human species; vampires, lycanthropes, Vinji, Sorcerers etc) in accordance with the Treaty Of Scriptures. To ensure both sides adhere to the terms of the Treaty, we have the Arbitrators (demigods)
This by no means is a light easy read. The plot and characters are complex and it’s obvious that the author has gone to a lot of trouble to weave an intricate world full of fantastical creatures, mysticism and dark magic. As a result I did struggle initially to remember the sheer number of characters and information overload at the beginning of the book. I usually find it beneficial to have the accompanying ebook version to keep track.
As I grew accustomed to the hierarchy of the Order, I found my sympathising with several of the characters. Kristian’s desire for a normal life, Oliver’s tragic murder, the weight and responsibility on Jonathan’s shoulders as the leader of the Order etc. Isabel the vampire, in particular, intrigued me.
Overall, this was a compelling page turning stand alone novel of a promising six part saga which I for one am looking forward to further exploring.
I received an advance free audible copy of Alone in the Light which was narrated by Andrew McDermott. I was impressed by his clear and concise narration which effortlessly brought the characters and plot to life. I recommend this book for fans of dark urban fantasy, prophecies, vampires, wizards, phoenixes, intrigue, suspense and peril. Harry Potter fans in particular, will lap this up.
