An ancient prophecy comes to pass. The shackled and the oppressed gain unimaginable powers. And the re-evolution of Earth begins.
In 1850s Mississippi, a young enslaved woman named Mirabelle barely survives day to day, praying for a better life.
Then, a solar eclipse envelops the world in an eerie glow. Suddenly, not only Mirabelle but all Black people become virtually unkillable. The enslaved throw off their shackles. And all that was is now–undone.
But evil will always find a way. So it falls on Mirabelle and her allies to outrun their enemies and unlock the secrets of an ages-old prophecy.
Because another eclipse is coming ...

I just wanted to get that out there before the rest of the review, as this is basically high-school-level "cool" fantasy wish fulfillment, pulling in all sorts of weird unrelated concepts with little thought given to logic, coherency, or consistency. At one point a Chinese "shifter" shows up out of nowhere. Why? Who knows. I guess the author likes shifter fantasy and just wanted to include one in a story nominally about black slavery.
Outside of the nonsense, writing quality is moderately good. Apart from the problems already mentioned, the dialogue sometimes feels unnatural and there are a number of grammatical errors such as dangling participles.
Audiobook production is good, with mostly good characterisation and mostly excellent use of music and sound effects (occasionally the music is a little too loud), but the main character's dialogue is often spoken in a voice considerably lacking in feeling, like that particular narrator is just going through the motions. I think that particular narrator is also the author. Hmmm.
Honestly, I'd stay away from this one. The first hour made some sense; after that it just fell into a heap of unrelated ideas stuck together with crazy glue.
Utter nonsense
