About this listen

Fans of inspirational fiction eagerly devour historical novels from Christy Award winner Lynn Austin. In All Things New, the acclaimed author weaves a tale set in the aftermath of the Civil War. Josephine Weatherly and her mother, Eugenia, return to their Virginia plantation, but their once-grand home has lost its lustre. Jo’s father and brother are dead, and the war has left her remaining brother broken and embittered. Bonding with Lizzie, one of the few remaining servants, Jo struggles to rebuild her life - and her faith in God.

This book has a little bit of everything. A graphic look at post civil war America. Get ready to be shocked and challenged in your own prejudices.

Very touching story of the effects war had on the privileged- high society and also how it affected their slaves. Was especially interesting to hear the slaves point of view and how they overcame being a slave to becoming free from slavery and being a paid servant.Such a heartfelt story with strong characters being bought forth from both the privileged and from the slaves points of view. The narration made the characters come to life.Another well thought out story from Lyn Austin.Thank you for a beautiful story

It was not my first choice for a Lynne Austin novel. It wasn’t as engaging and gripping as her other novels but still a nice story. It reveals the hardships of the American civil war that divided a nation and the realisation that much still remains true today.

Not my fave but steady
